The Modi government of late, has been batting on the front foot on various issues as it takes the opposition to the cleaners while exposing their hypocrisy. The Prime Minister showed the way through his thundering speeches in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, with Nirmala Sitharaman and Smriti Irani following up as they destroyed Rahul Gandhi’s statements. Now, its the turn of Union Home Minister Amit Shah as in just one debate, he has obliterated Asaduddin Owaisi’s secular image.
While responding to the discussion on Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made it a point to target AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi while also attacking the parties which ruled Jammu and Kashmir for 70 years and used the region as a cash cow.
The bill which was passed after discussion, according to its provisions, officers of the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service of the existing Jammu and Kashmir cadre will now be a part of the cadre of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories.
Shah then proceeded to respond to the allegations of Opposition members that the government restored 4G internet facilities under foreign pressure. “Asaduddin Owaisi ji said that 2G to 4G internet service has been implemented under pressure from foreigners. He does not know that it was not the UPA government, which he had supported. It is Narendra Modi’s government, which makes decisions for the country,” said the Union Home Minister.

The Home Minister said that Owaisi also sees officers from the prism of Hindu-Muslim. Shah said, “Can a Muslim officer not serve the Hindu people or can a Hindu officer serve the Muslim people?” He said that how can Owaisi call himself a secular when he sees everything from the prism of Hindu-Muslim. It is pertinent to note that the AIMIM MP had alleged that the number of Muslim officers in Jammu and Kashmir are declining.
The Home Minister added, “I want to tell this House once again that please understand the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Do not make any statement to do politics that misleads the public.”
He urged the members of the house to not make Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh a part of their politics as it’s a sensitive part of the country with the region suffering many wounds in the past and it’s our job to heal them.
Shah then hit out at the Muftis and the Abdullahs who treated J&K as their personal fiefdom. “Here it was said that what happened to the promises made while removing Article 370? I will answer that, but I want to ask that it has been only 17 months since Article 370 was removed, have you come to terms with what you did for 70 years?,”said the Gandhinagar MP.
He then took potshots at the INC as he said that those who had the opportunity to rule the country for generations, look into your own hands and see if you are worth asking us for the account of 17 months.
It is encouraging to see the government being in an aggressive mode as it pushes through critical reforms and this bodes well for the country.
