While TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee has ruled the State of West Bengal with an iron fist, BJP offers a just, inclusive and people-centric model of governance. In a display of just that, Home Minister Amit Shah is on a visit to the eastern state where he is giving a glimpse of a new ray to West Bengal. Embarking on a path which is drastically different from Mamata’s tyrant rule, Amit Shah has come into the picture with love, honour and respect.
Home Minister Amit Shah was on a two-day visit to West Bengal where the people’s show of acceptance for him needs no words. Not only have the people welcomed him openly, but have participated in his rallies and roadshows in large numbers.
Amit Shah focused on BJP’s intent of restoring the former glory of West Bengal, during his rallies. Addressing the people at a roadshow in Bolpur, Shah said, “Give one chance to Narendra Modi. We will make ‘Sonar Bangla’ in five years.” He further said, “We will take Bengal on the way of progress and make it the Bengal of the dreams of Tagore and Subhash Babu.”
Referring to TMC Supremo’s tyrant rule, Shah said, “The people are angry against Mamata and people have decided. This indicates that this time it is the lotus that will take the lead. Bengal has decided. Mamata, come to the battleground, this is the time for lotus. People want ‘poriborton’ [change]. This is not about a change of person. This is for Bengal’s development. Change to stop infiltration from Bangladesh. Change to stop political violence.”

This words of Amit Shah assume special significance, given that BJP President JP Nadda’s convoy was allegedly attacked by goons carrying TMC flags, during his visit to the state a few days ago. Senior BJP leaders had been injured in this attack. This had further reinforced the state of affairs in West Bengal, and TMC’s penchant for orchestrating political violence.
Mamata Banerjee has always exercised rampant violence to gain political control of the state. These untoward incidents have especially gained momentum after the Lok Sabha elections, wherein BJP gained 18 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats. She believes that by creating a fear psychosis, the people will vote for her; but that is not how a democracy functions and that is exactly what the people are poised to show in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections.
Exercising the same tactics, Mamata had attempted to use intimidation and terror against BJP leaders, but Amit Shah has risen above that to garner support for the party based on honour and respect.
Further elaborating on the support of the people for BJP, Amit Shah said, “I have attended and organised several roadshows in my life but have never seen one like this. This roadshow is a reflection of people’s anger against the Mamata Banerjee Government. This crowd reflects people’s faith in the agenda of development of Narendra Modi Ji.”
Apart from his rallies, showing an immense appreciation for West Bengal’s history, culture and glorious traditions, Amit Shah paid a visit to the punya bhoomi of freedom fighter Khudiram Bose. He also visited Rabindra Bhawan and Sangeet Bhawan of Visva Bharati University in Shantiniketan, paying tributes to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

During his visit, Amit Shah also welcomed former TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari and 9 other MLAs, along with MP Sunil Mondal, to the BJP in a rally in Paschim Medinipur. Commenting on this, Shah said, “Why are so many people leaving Trinamool Congress? Because of the misrule, corruption and nepotism of Mamata Banerjee. Didi, this is just the beginning. By the time elections come, you will be left all alone.”
Where Mamata Banerjee being apathetic towards ground level development, indulges in appeasement politics and orchestrates political violence to gain control of the state; the BJP promised development for the state and prosperity for the people. Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections, the people are presented with a choice, to either remain in the dark ages or seek a brighter perspective. The honour and respect with which Amit Shah has been welcomed in the state indicate people’s preference for the latter.
