Facebook India policy head Ankhi Das receives death threats after WSJ accused her of being a BJP stooge

Time and again it has been proven that the Indian National Congress and its ecosystem end up lowering the level of political discourse just when you thought that their ecosystem couldn’t stoop any lower. After the Wall Street Journal did a hit job on Facebook India policy head Ankhi Das, the INC and its ecosystem started attacking the BJP and Facebook. Das, in particular, got a lot of backlashes so much so that she has started receiving death threats.

In her complaint to the Delhi Police, Public policy director of Facebook India, South and Central Asia, Ankhi Das has mentioned many people who have allegedly issued “violent threats” to her online. Das stated that she received, “violent threats against her life and body through online posting/publishing of content.”

Das further alleged that she was intentionally vilified by the accused due to their “political affiliations” and is now being subjected to “criminal intimidation and making sexually coloured remarks”. In her complaint, she mentioned the Facebook and Twitter accounts who according to her had threatened her with some using her photos after the WSJ article got published.

The article “was further published in a mischaracterized and distorted manner in India by various publications and further widely circulated on social media,” alleged Das in her complaint.

As soon as the WSJ article came out, the entire left-liberal ecosystem led by the INC got activated to attack Facebook and Das and even dig out the details of her family members.

It is a very poor clarification Mr Mark Zuckerberg. You and your Policy Head Ankhi Das allowed a hate speech by Raja Singh BJP MLA to continue on Facebook. 1/2

The bottom line:

Ankhi Das is a symptom.

The disease is @Facebook (and FB-owned WhatsApp).

— Salman Anees Soz (@SalmanSoz) August 17, 2020

Yes, Ankhi Das must only be held to account for her own views.

Such as sharing a post that called Indian Muslims a "degenerate community" and then adding that the said post "spoke to me…" @Facebook got a lobbyist for India who knew how to speak to the RSS-BJP govt. https://t.co/gvS5d3JBW2

Then in April, an article appeared on @moneycontrolcom which raved about the deal between Facebook & Reliance Jio. Below the headline, the byline says "MoneyControl contributor".

But scroll a little – and the author is Facebook's Policy Chief Ankhi Das' sister Rashmi Das.

Ankhi Das, chief lobbyist of @Facebook is not only a admirer & endoser of Modi her father in law is an ex MLA from a regional party. Das has given “anchors” lucrative monetary deals across the spectrum

All hell broke loose after the WSJ did a hit job on Facebook in a desperate bid to prove that Facebook and BJP are in bed with each other. The article conveniently disregards the social media giant’s dubious past, some of its ‘shady’ associates and associated agencies whose ideological biases are hidden from none.

In July 2019, a new documentary hit Netflix India. It went by the title “The Great Hack”. The Netflix documentary was based on the massive controversy surrounding the now-defunct data intelligence company Cambridge Analytica. The show discussed how the company snooped over the private details of millions of internet users to aid their political clients. The show was well-received throughout the world but in India, the response to it was massive. And it was because the Palm (Symbol of the Indian National Congress) was seen on one of the walls of the Cambridge Analytica (CA) office. That marked the end of the Congress party’s lies. The party, led by its then social media chief Divya Spandana, had been vehemently denying the accusations about a possible Congress-CA Nexus till then but the documentary made them run for covers.

It was a common knowledge by then that social media giant Facebook was CA’s partner in crime and CA on Congress’ payrolls directly translated into Facebook ‘happy to comply’ to Congress’ machinations. Most social media platforms are ‘liberal’ in nature and it’s a well-proven fact that conservative voices are suppressed on social media. But this was possible for the first time that there were clear proofs about an American Social Media portal helping an Indian political party in its bid to win an election. Like other news, this news died as well.

A year earlier, Facebook had appointed Ajit Mohan as the managing director and vice-president of Facebook India. Ajit is a hot-shot corporate who had previously served as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Star India’s online video streaming platform Hotstar, as a consultant at Mckinsey and Company and had also written columns for Wall Street Journal. Additionally, Mohan had worked with the Ministry of Urban Development (now called the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development), the Planning Commission and the International Center for Research on Women under the UPA government. Certainly, Mohan must be a man of many talents, but his Congress links were hidden from none. It led to a huge uproar and Facebook’s credibility as an unbiased social media platform was questioned.

And it’s not just Mr. Mohan, Congress leader and former cabinet minister Manish Tewari is on the board of Atlantic council which has been outsourcing the job of eliminating political propaganda from the platform by Facebook. The council proudly described Mr. Tewari as “A respected counsel practising in the Supreme Court of India, Tewari previously served as a member of parliament of India from Ludhiana and is currently the national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress.”

The liberal ecosystem is now using the WSJ article to justify the Bangalore riots as it is now blaming Facebook for not removing the derogatory post which led to a Muslim mob wrecking havoc in Bangalore. The INC and its stooges can stoop to any extent to relaunch their master – Rahul Gandhi.
