It’s been almost a fortnight since the encounter of Vikas Dubey, while Dubey might have been finished, his case certainly isn’t. When Dubey was encountered, the opposition unitedly jumped to criticise the Yogi Adityanath government as they demanded a fair investigation. It seems that the tables have turned as the Supreme Court has made some startling observations which will likely give sleepless nights to Dubey’ political benefactors and co-conspirators as an SC has asked the UP government to rework a committee to investigate the death of Vikas Dubey and how the notorious gangster was out on bail despite committing heinous crimes.
During the hearing of the Vikas Dubey encounter in the Supreme Court, the top court asked the UP government to form a probe committee consisting of a former Supreme Court judge and a retired police officer, to which the UP government readily agreed.
The probe committee will be tasked to investigate the encounter of Dubey and additionally, how such a notorious criminal was allowed to roam free on bail
Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde ordered the UP government, “We are appalled at the fact that such a person was released on bail. This is a failure of an institution where he was released on bail and did this. We need a report on such bail orders.”
The honourable judge also asked the lawyer representing the UP government to look into statements made by the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. “If they have made certain statements and then something has followed, you should look into this,” said Chief Justice Bobde.
Just a couple of days ago, Jai Bajpai who is believed to be the financier of Vikas Dubey was arrested by the UP Police. Bajpai is believed to have provided ammunition to Dubey in the Bikru village encounter that left eight policemen dead. Additionally, Prashant Shukla aka Dablu, brother-in-law of slain gangster Bauan Dubey, has also been arrested.
The hunt is on for Vikas Dubey’s brother, Deep Prakash Dubey with the Yogi Adityanath government announcing a reward for Rs 20,000 for his whereabouts.
