Late Tuesday night, Pakistan, the poor country on our western border, got scared after a blackout in Karachi. The Pakistani social media was abuzz with fear and panic that Indian Air Force jets crossed the border and hovering over the largest city of the country.
Pakistani citizens feared that Indian Air Force jets crossed the border to carry out another Balakot like air strike in the city of Karachi and this led to “blackout”. Later it came out that the citizens of the Islamic country actually mistook Pakistani Air Force jets as IAF jets.
Fright in #Karachi during blackout yesterday, rumours of IAF jets intruding — That’s the true impact of Balakot 2019. Bombing a bunch of terrorists on a hill is one thing. JeM far from broken. But a country freaking out, mistaking PAF jets for IAF jets = msg delivered & locked.

After the blackout, Pakistani journalists tweeted that Pakistani government put the city in dark after IAF jets were seen flying near the city.
Extraordinary air activity on #Pak_India border has been observed. #Pakistan security forces are alert.

“Dear @IndiainPakistan, rumors are rife about Indian Air Force incursions into Pakistan-administered Kashmir and the Sindh-Rajasthan sector. Recommend you put out a statement to clarify. Also recommend that everybody chill and enjoy the week,” tweeted Waj Khan.

In the wake Pulwama terror attack, India carried out its first cross border pre-emptive airstrike on a terrorist training camp in Balakot, Pakistan. Last year, India irreversibly changed the dynamics of Indo-Pak relations by carrying out a military operation inside Pakistan. Till then, the relationship between India and Pakistan had been dominated by Pakistani terrorism and failed peace talks. India showed that it is not going to tolerate Pakistani terrorism. In an unprecedented development, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out pre-emptive strikes deep into the Pakistani territory. The IAF targeted a Jaish e Mohammed terror training camp in Balakot and hit the terrorist country where it hurts the most. The airstrikes exposed how Pakistan was harboring terror outfits.
Since the Balakot airstrikes, Pakistani establishment and its citizens live in constant state of fear. The citizens fear that India could carry out another Balakot like attack any day to kill the terrorists in Pakistan.
Many mafia dons and criminals like Dawood Ibrahim are said to be living in Karachi and therefore, the citizens of the city fear that if India carries a strike to kill Dawood like the US killed Osama Bin Laden. Also, Karachi is the most important city of Pakistan, a trading and financial hub like Mumbai. The Pakistani citizens fear that whenever India carried an attack, Karachi would be first target and casualty.
Whether India would do such things in future or not is something for defense experts to debate, but the common people of Pakistan are now aware of India’s capabilities and fear Indian Armed forces.
