GoAir has been at the centre of a massive social media storm following disgusting comments made by one of its employees, Asif Khan, about Mata Sita, and Hindus in general. Ever since the images of his comments went viral on social media, particularly microblogging site Twitter, there has been a strong demand by Hindus to have the deranged man sacked from his job.
Asif Khan’s Twitter bio, which now stands deleted, stated that he was employed by GoAir as a member of the cabin crew. However, it has now been revealed that he was in fact a trainee pilot (first officer) working for the airline.
One of the first tweets calling for the bigot to be sacked from GoAir has garnered over 7,300 retweets on Twitter in one day.
Dear @goairlinesindia, what kind of shit head you have hired? Do you endorse such derogatory remarks of your employee?
Guys, RT it until he gets fired. pic.twitter.com/8ukrKpCWLe

Following unprecedented outrage, and a united campaign on social media asking for the sacking of Asif Khan, GoAir yesterday announced that it had terminated the employment contract of the individual with immediate effect. “The airline does not associate itself with personal views expressed by any individual or employee. With immediate effect, GoAir is terminating the employment contract of the trainee first officer,” the airline statement read.

Earlier, when the issue was first brought to the notice of the airline, it had promptly stated that the issue was taken due note of, and that they had begun verifying the credentials of Asif Khan as an employee. Upon having found him in their employment records, and his distasteful and outrageous anti-Hindu bigotry being more than evident, GoAir was quick to immediately sack the individual.

Off late, Hindus have consolidated their energies towards pinpointing anti-India and anti-Hindu elements in society, and have largely been successful in ensuring that stringent action is taken against them. While eternal pessimists will say that these are petty victories, they, however, go a long way in proving that Hindus have perhaps not been as united as they are today in a very long time.
Whether it be Shemaroo (Surleen Kaur fiasco), Zee5 (airing of Godman web series halted), or GoAir, collective voicing of anger by Hindus has indeed been reaping fruits for the past few weeks. One can only hope that such unity remains intact, and that our energies are focused in weeding out anti-Hindu elements from society, and workplaces.
The collective voicing of anger by Hindus will also go a long way in keeping reckless companies, who hire just about anybody, on their toes. Due assessment of one’s ideologies and belief systems are required before they are employed for any job. While one can have political inclinations either of the Left or the Right in a democratic country like India, what one cannot be is a bigoted Hinduphobe. Rest assured, anti-Hindus will now be dealt with an iron hand.
