The Yogi government has been extremely vigilant in its fight against coronavirus pandemic and now in an extension of it, the authorities have made it mandatory for the medical professionals to submit details about buyers of medicines for fever, cold and cough, on a daily basis from drug stores in their respective areas. The latest order seeks to trace any individual who might still be ignorant about the COVID-19 symptoms or deliberately trying to conceal the infection.
The order in this regard has been issued by the commissioner of Drug licensing and control authority AK Jain. The pharmacies and the drug inspectors have been instructed to update the information on the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department website, every day by 5 pm.
Information on the symptoms related to fever, cough, and cold along with the information of the buyers including name, address, and phone number will be directly sent to the e-link of the Department of Health and Family welfare department.
Based on the report, the government will monitor the situation and will take appropriate measures to trace and test the people having the ailments which match with the symptoms of COVID-19.
Late last month, the Karnataka government had also asked chemists to share contact details of those who purchased medicines used for influenza-like illness (ILI) or severe acute respiratory infection (SARI).
Despite the government’s best efforts to remove the stigma from the coronavirus cases or patients, certain sections still have their reservations regarding the virus. Rather than reporting their illness, such patients use cold/cough medicines for domestic treatment that risks the lives of those around them.
The state government said that the move is intended to plug the cases or prevent any community outbreak from happening.
To keep the cases in check, the authorities in the state have also mandated the use of the Aarogya Setu app for all travelers within the state.
Till now, there have 3,902 COVID-19 cases in UP with 88 deaths which is far lower when compared to some metropolitan cities. UP is the most populous state in the country and therefore credit is due to Yogi for keeping the numbers in check.
He has shown his mettle in the entire coronavirus episode with strong decision-making and an even watertight implementation. Unlike Bihar’s CM Nitish Kumar, Yogi has not abandoned any migrant worker and was one of the first CM’s who provided the migrants with buses so that they could reach their homes.
While the country battles the deadly disease, Yogi has been on a simultaneous mission to revamp the raggedy state of Uttar Pradesh into a major industrial hub. He is leaving no stone unturned to fulfill the mission. From hosting over 100 foreign companies and giving them special packages to revamping the labour laws, the monk-CM is on an overdrive.
They say when the going gets tough, the tougher gets going and it certainly has been the case with Yogi Adityanath.
