Gaurav Pandhi, National Coordinator, Digital Communications & Social Media of the Indian National Congress is involved in a bitter tussle with renowned folk singer Malini Awasthi.
On Tuesday, Pandhi made certain make-believe allegations against Malini Awasthi and her husband, and tweeted, “UP Addl Chief Secretary @AwasthiAwanishK is behaving like BJP’s Shakhaboy, against poor migrant workers. Is it because his wife Malini Awasthi does hundreds of shows for UP Govt and hence earning crores from BJP Govt? Their bank account statements won’t be surprising at all!”

Ever since Gaurav Pandhi made unsubstantiated allegations against the renowned folk singer, she has been hitting back at the Congress’ National Coordinator for Social Media. Hours after Pandhis’s tweet, Awasthi slammed him and said, “Give proof of your allegations or be ready to face legal action.” Coming down heavily on Pandhi, she said, “You have run out of arrows in your quiver of dirty politics by maligning a woman who has worked hard for 48 years.” The folk singer also said that her husband is known for his honesty and integrity throughout the state.
Malini Awasthi (@maliniawasthi) May 19, 2020
Malini Awasthi has followed up on her words, and on Wednesday she tweeted a snap of the legal notice for defamation against the Congress’ National Coordinator for Digital Communications and Social Media.

Zee News has quoted her as saying, “I have sent a legal notice. He should either unconditionally apologise or I am going to the court. He should be facing. I have written that truth should prevail. I want to see what their reaction is. I want the world to see that a party which talks about women empowerment- this is what they actually think about women.”
Recently, there was a controversy regarding the migrant crisis in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had offered to provide 1,000 buses for tackling the migrant crisis.
The matter soon snowballed into a major political issue after the Yogi Adityanath government accepted her offer, and Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Awanish Awasthi communicated to Priyanka Vadra’s personal secretary that her proposal had been accepted by the government.
In a massive embarrassment for the grand old party, the partial list of ‘buses’ handed over to the Yogi government contained blacklisted vehicles and buses which are off the roads for a multiplicity of reasons. From the partial list sent to the government by the Congress, Twitterati found the details of certain vehicles from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways website, and some of these vehicles turned out to be Auto-rickshaws and scooters!
Later, Gaurav Pandhi’s tweet claimed that the UP Additional Chief Secretary is acting like a BJP “Shakhaboy”. And even Malini Awasthi got dragged into the political mudslinging over the migrant crisis as Pandhi also levelled allegations against her seemingly without furnishing any proofs to back them. Now, Malini Awasthi has decided to approach the Courts and bring the issue to a reasonable conclusion.
