5.2 acre land occupied by Rohingyas in constituency of AAP MLA Amanatullah, over 300 receiving ration from AAP govt

Oh Delhi, look what they are doing to you

Illegal Rohingya immigrants have encroached upon the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department land right in the heart of the National Capital, according to a Dainik Bhaskar report. An illegal Rohingya camp is reported to have come upon the 5.2 acres-land belonging to the UP Irrigation Department, right opposite to the Madanpur Khadar cremation ground. Over 300 illegal immigrants are receiving relief material and other amenities from the AAP government.

But what is particularly disturbing is that the illegal Rohingya immigrants are said to be getting all kinds of relief benefits in the camp that has come up on the encroached land. The Dainik Jagran report alleges that the Kejriwal-led Delhi government and local AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan are supplying ration to the Rohingya immigrants.

The illegal Rohingya immigrants are reported to have indulged in power theft, apart from illegally installing boring facilities for water supply. The Rohingyas have settled down on land belonging to the UP irrigation department, but the Indian migrant labourers hailing from Uttar Pradesh and other states in the vicinity are starving in short supply of rations.

This land which has been occupied and converted into a ghetto by the Rohingya immigrants is said to be worth crores of rupees, and locals allege that Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan has systematically settled the illegal immigrants coming from Myanmar on this land.

Locals from Kalindi Kunj area of Delhi have alleged that these Rohingya immigrants were earlier living on a vacant plot of a Muslim leader in Kanchan Kunj, however, the 40 Rohingya homes were destroyed in the year 2018 in a fire incident. AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan had then reportedly promised compensation of Rs. 25,000 for each family.

Later, India Today had reported that there was a dispute regarding rehabilitation of Rohingya immigrants between Uttar Pradesh’s Irrigation and Water Resources Department and Zakat foundation of India (ZFI), which had also built the camp that got destroyed in the 2018 fire incident. The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh claimed ownership of a part of the land where Rohingya immigrants were proposed to be settled.

Dainik Jagran has also reported former South-east Delhi MP Mahesh Giri as saying that he had written to Delhi Police for removal of Rohingya immigrants, but Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan had then objected to such removal. Giri has also alleged that the AAP MLA got Aadhar and Voter ID cards made for the Rohingya immigrants on his own letterheads.

Rohingya immigrants are seen as a security threat and the Centre has also been looking to deport illegal Rohingya immigrants from India, and in 2017 the Centre had also told the Supreme Court that the illegal Rohingya immigrants pose a security threat.

But the Kejriwal government in Delhi has no qualms about aiding the Rohingya immigrants and earlier this month, the Kejriwal government disclosed before the Delhi High Court that it was providing “adequate ration” to the Rohingya immigrants.

This is another feather in the cap of the underrated Islamist- AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan. Recently, a video was doing the rounds on social media where residents of Sarita Vihar could be seen lamenting the fact that they were turned away by the ration distributors because they did not vote for the AAP MLA—Amanatullah Khan.

Even the anti-CAA ‘biryani fest’ (Shaheen Bagh roadblock) was organised in his constituency and he had supported the incendiary agitation openly. And now the allegations of systemically settling Rohingya immigrants have strengthened his image as the face of AAP’s appeasement politics.
