In a message to quarantined MPs of Northeast Delhi and East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari and Gautam Gambhir respectively, PM Modi said that the MPs should take lead in maintaining peace in their area. In the riots in Northeast Delhi, so far, 46 people have been killed but Manoj Tiwari has been absent from the ground.
In the parliamentary meeting, PM Modi told the MPs that “Vikas is our mantra. Peace, unity and harmony are prerequisites for development.” He also said that political interests are supreme for some parties but for the BJP, “national interest is above everything”.
BJP MPs from riot affected areas have not visited those affected even once. When asked why he was absent from the ground, Tiwari said, “I was in contact with police; people in the constituency were trying to get help.”
He also blamed Delhi Police for failure to assess the ground situation in the area and said, “I don’t know what to say. Loss of so many lives is a matter of deep sorrow. It appears that the police also failed to assess the ground situation in time. It could have prevented loss of so many lives.”
Gautam Gambhir, the other MP from the area, took to social media to appeal to people to maintain peace, but has not visited the affected families. “I urge all Delhiites to not fall prey of any rumours around and maintain peace and harmony. Everything is normal,” said Gambhir.
While PM Modi asked the MPs to take lead in maintaining peace in their respective areas, leaders like Manoj Tiwari and Gautam Gambhir did not have the time to visit to the affected families or the area affected due to riots.
Instead of visiting the riot affected areas, Manoj Tiwari and Gautam Gambhir tried to put blame of the riots on Kapil Mishra. Gautam Gambhir has off late been trying very hard to be perceived as a ‘secular’ and statesmanlike leader. For this very purpose, he has not been reluctant in playing into the hands of India’s liberals, only to impress some of them perhaps, and get validation from the cabal. Once again, before checking the facts on Delhi riots, the Cricketer turned politician has made an apologetic and cringeworthy statement on BJP leader Kapil Mishra, whom liberals tried to blame for riots wherein anti-CAA protesters have wreaked havoc in the streets of Delhi.
Playing into the hands of the sinister cabal’s manipulation of the truth, the BJP MP from East Delhi has said, “no matter who the person is, whether he is Kapil Mishra or anyone else, belonging to any party, if he has given any provoking speech then strict action should be taken against him.”
Similarly, Manoj Tiwari is proving a baggage on Delhi BJP and under his leadership the party registered one of the most humiliating defeats in 2020 assembly election. Manoj Tiwari was made the Delhi unit chief in November 2016. He replaced Satish Upadhyay, who held the post from 2014 to 2016. The party was eying for Purvanchali votes, which has traditionally voted for Congress and later AAP, and therefore Tiwari, an outsider with zero experience in Delhi politics, was forced on Delhi BJP cadre.
Tiwari is also not a dedicated BJP worker. In fact, he fought on Samajwadi Party ticket against Yogi Adityanath in 2009 from Gorakhpur, which obviously, he lost. At that time, he said, he is not “a political person but was concerned for the development of Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh.” It is clear that he came to BJP only for electoral gains.
PM Modi message to MPs like Manoj Tiwari and Gautam Gambhir, who are fast turning to baggage for the party, is very clear. These leaders must to visit to riot affected families, and should make attempt put blame on leaders like Kapil Mishra to wash their hands.
