Amnesty International is a notorious NGO, allegedly functioning under the garb of protecting human rights and freedom around the world. Its Indian branch is two steps ahead, as it is blatantly anti-Hindu and as a cherry topping, is also insane.
Amnesty International India once again popped out of its cocoon yesterday and went on a rant against the Indian state. Yesterday, four rapists were hanged to death for the gruesome gang rape and murder of Nirbhaya in 2012. This, after seven years of wait for the family, and the entire nation for justice. The convicts had exhausted all their legal remedies before they were hanged, therefore for Amnesty to sermonize India is a joke on themselves.
“Since August 2015, India had not executed anyone and it is unfortunate that four men were executed today in the name of tackling violence against women. All too often lawmakers in India hold up the death penalty as a symbol of their resolve to tackle crime,“ said Avinash Kumar, Executive Director, Amnesty International India.
“The death penalty is never the solution and today’s resumption of executions adds another dark stain to India’s human rights record. Indian courts have repeatedly found it to be applied arbitrarily and inconsistently,” he added.

This is certainly not the first time when Amnesty India has spoken over and above their status. With a false sense of self-importance, Amnesty seems to consider themselves the ‘beacon’ of Human Rights preservation. Of course, next to nobody, certainly in India, takes them seriously. And why should we? The Enforcement Directorate had earlier raided the ‘NGO’s’ Bangalore office after inputs that the organization was involved in FCRA violations to the tune of at least 36 crore rupees. A probe is currently ongoing. As such, it would be best for Amnesty to shut up, as they are subjects of investigations involving big cash.
In February, the organisation spoke against CAA, and gave a clean chit to violent protestors. “Excessive force, including police firing and lathi (baton) charge, is further used to deter largely peaceful protests. With this approach, India stands in absolute violation of international human rights laws and standards,” wrote Amnesty in its press release back then.
The levels of illiteracy within the organisation when it comes to a legislation like CAA is shocking. It is abundantly clear that they have not read the Act, leave alone try and understand it.
For Amnesty to claim that the execution of Nirbhaya’s rapists is a ‘dark stain’ on India is like it mocking the tremendous efforts of the victim’s family, who have been fighting day in and day out seeking justice. It is about time that the government take strict action to tame this rogue organisation.
