One of the reasons of Jyotiraditya Scindia jumping the sinking ship of Congress and Kamal Nath government was because of Congress’ age-old adage of stabbing its own in the back. One day after joining the BJP, the former Congress leader is being dubbed a tainted and corrupt official. The Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Thursday (12 March) dug up a six-year-old case to needle Scindia and his family after he quit the Congress and joined the BJP, presumably at the behest of Kamal Nath government.
The EOW seeks to re-verify facts about a complaint that alleged the Scindias had falsified a property document to sell an undersized piece of land to the complainant in Gwalior measuring 6,000 sq feet less than claimed. It seems like Congress is trying to nurse the wounds after an influential leader like Scindia left their flanks by bringing up this case.
“Yes, an order has been given for re-verification of facts in the complaint filed by Surendra Shrivastava,” an EOW official told PTI. An EOW release said Shrivastava on Thursday filed a new complaint against Scindia and his family, alleging that by falsifying a registry document, they sold him a piece of land at Mahalgaon which was smaller by 6,000 sq feet than the original agreement in 2009.
He had complained first on March 26, 2014. But it was investigated and closed in 2018, the EOW official said. “As he again petitioned us today, we will re-verify the facts,” the officer added.
“The case had been closed for want of evidence. Now for vengeance, it is being reopened. We have full faith in the Constitution and law. We will get justice and Kamal Nath government a befitting reply,” said Scindia’s close aide Pankaj Chaturvedi, alleging that it was political vendetta.
Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh, the old power-hungry rear guards of Congress have been responsible for Scindia’s ultimate exit from the party. The way 22 MLAs snubbed the state government in an instant must not have gone down well with either of them. The fear of losing power in the state must be a difficult pill to swallow for both of them. Therefore it is understandable the cheap theatrics Congress has resorted to.
While Kamal Nath opened up a dead case from the books, Digvijaya Singh took to Twitter to vent out his frustration. Since Scindia switched sides, Digvijaya has been constantly tweeting and targeting him. In one of the tweets, he wrote, ‘The revolver used by Nathuram Godse to kill Mahatma Gandhi was provided by Parchure of Gwalior.’ Digvijaya did not take name of Scindia but his target was inevitably Jyotiraditya Scindia; the scion of the erstwhile royal family of Gwalior. Although the tweet borders on the line of absurdity but whatever floats Mr. Digvijaya’s boat, after all the loss of a big leader like Scindia was always bound to sting.
Also the revolver by which Godse killed Mahatma Gandhi was given to him by one Parchure from Gwalior. Need to do some more research about who was Parchure.

Meanwhile, the MP Congress Twitter handle went berserk and started tweeting absolute gibberish in an attempt to get back at Scindia.
In one of the tweets, it stated, “11 members of family in Burari committed suicide to obtain moksha. Jyotiraditya Scindia joined BJP in hope of better future. Both unfortunate incidents will have same fate.”

What has aggravated Congress’s misery is the fact that the three trusted allies have turned down Congress’ requests to support the party in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The party had urged DMK in Tamil Nadu, JMM in Jharkhand and RJD in Bihar for support so that it could field candidates despite lacking the numbers. All three parties shrugged off from supporting Congress.
The times are testing and Congress is folding like a pack of cards. For survival, Congress is trying to provoke a response from BJP and in specific Scindia through vendetta politics. Jyotiraditya Scindia has been graceful in his defection from the party but Congress has come out as a sore-loser in the proceedings and is behaving like a typical crest-fallen teenager who had its heartbroken for the first time.
