In a shocking case of discrimination and hatred, Abrar Ahmed, Assistant Professor at Jamia Millia Islamia, failed all non-Muslim students who did not support the anti-CAA protests. Moreover, Ahmed was dare enough to brag this on Twitter.
“All my students have passed except 15 non-Muslims, who have to reappear. If you protest against #CAAprotests, then I have 55 students in my favour. The majority will teach you a lesson if the protest doesn’t end #riots. Due to #corona, your symbols of protest be erased. I wonder why they hate me?” tweeted Ahmed, in a now deleted tweet.
Ahmed also bragged that that majority of the students are in his favor. Given the fact Jamia was given the status of Minority University in 2011 by the UPA government, 50 percent of the seats of the university are reserved for Muslim community. Islamic fundamentalism is social norm in the university and even Hindu students are expected to follow basic Islamic customs, and therefore, Hindu students are very unlikely to take admission in Jamia. More than tow-third of the total students are Muslims, and the ‘tyranny of the majority’ in the university could be seen in professor’s tweet.
Later the University administration suspended the professor for “inciting communal disharmony” and tweeted, “Dr. Abrar Ahmad, Asstt Professor of @jmiu_official tweeted in public domain as to failing 15 non-muslim students in an exam. This is a serious misconduct inciting communal disharmony under CCS CONDUCT RULES.The university suspends him pending inquiry.”

As per a report by Swarajya, Union government spends 600 crore rupees every year on 18,500 students of the university, which translates into 3.25 lakh rupees per student. The pass percentage among the male students is only 76 percent and 62 percent for women.
The university has a total of 2003 students in Ph. D course and average time taken to complete Ph. D. is 8 years, while the union government expects a student to take 4-6 years to complete doctors. The students live on central government perks and intentionally take more time to compete doctors. In short, central government spends crores of rupees on Jamia students and gets only protests in return.
However, the case of Abrar Ahmed is not the only one and the discrimination to students of a particular religion or ideology is not limited to Jamia, many other universities like JNU, HCU, DU, where professors are ideologically loaded, students of opposite ideologies face discrimination.
In JNU, where the JNUSU and teachers’ union is dominated by Socialist, Marxist, and Communists, the students or teachers belonging to ABVP or RSS faced discrimination. Since independence, the academia of the country has been dominated by leftist as the Congress government led by Nehru promoted the left wing intellectuals.
Ethnic cleansing of the right wing intellectuals was carried out by the government, especially after Indira Gandhi came to power. She gave the Marxist full control of academia and JNU came to existence under her leadership in 1969. Since then, the leftist professors from JNU have dominated every academic body, right from NCERT to UGC.
The right wing professors and students were declared ‘outcaste’ by the cabal, and the Marxist professors ‘failed’ those subscribing to ABVP ideology, especially in JNU. IN JNU, if you talk to any student who subscribed to ABVP, they will tell the sad story of how the leftist professors discriminated and declared them outcaste.
Abrar Ahmed, in his clarification to the university administration, said that the tweet was meant for satire. “It is sheer misunderstanding and misinterpretation. It was satire, parody, a co-relation to explain how minorities are being targeted by CAA and it would be as bad as a teacher saying ‘that all minority students are failed and have to reappear’,” wrote Ahmed in clarification. However, this clarification could not whitewash the thought process and rotten ethics of these professors.
