Uttar Pradesh has by far the most dedicated and effective team of administrators, led by Yogi Adityanath himself, waging a war against the novel Coronavirus pandemic. No matter how immense a problem might be, the Yogi administration is overcoming it seamlessly. At a time when the number of cases in India has crossed the 1000 mark, it should be intuitively clear to all that nobody has the time for jokes and casual buffoonery, yet, that is exactly what is happening in some parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The UP government has set up control rooms across the state to help people during the lockdown and also for the citizens to have any problems they might be facing, addressed. Yet, some are finding the time to play around with officials and the administration.
The control room set up in Rampur was getting incessant calls from a young man, almost dictating the officials to get him samosas. Despite repeated warnings against such frivolous demands, the man continued badgering the helpline number and asking the officials to satiate his need for samosas. As a result, the DM of Rampur took matters in his own hands, and dispatched a team with the samosas to be delivered to the man who was obviously in dire need of some snacks.
However, the Magistrate also ordered that after the delivery of samosas, the man be made to clean drains in his neighbourhood as punishment for constantly playing around with the helpline number and obstructing officials from carrying out construction work.

In another case of similar nature, a man ordered Pizza on the helpline number, as if the state administration was a Pizza delivery franchise. He too began irritating the officials, and was later made to clean the drains. Meanwhile, people have also been ordering Disprin tablets and cigarettes by calling the helpline number. What they are getting instead is a filthy drain to clean. Some luckier ones though, are being made to clean the streets. Poetic justice, I’d say.
The administration is giving it back to such idiots in a manner most befitting for their personalities. The message is clear, you irritate us, we will make you regret doing so, in unimaginable ways.
Police officers have also been seen coming up with innovative ideas to shame people who are obsessively flouting the lockdown and venturing out of their homes unnecessarily. In a video which has gone viral, a police team is seen doing aarti of a man on a bike for unnecessarily roaming the streets.

The people must understand that this is no time for playing up with the administration and trying to joke around with them. The administration has much more on its plate, like saving the nation of a raging pandemic, and they surely have no time for gratifying people’s needs for cigarettes and samosas.
