At a time when the entire nation is eagerly waiting for the execution of the four death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case after the President rejected the mercy petition of one of the death row convicts, Mukesh, the Congress has shamefully resorted to dirty politics over the issue.
Earlier, the victim’s mother had criticised the Kejriwal led Delhi government over delay in executing the death sentence against the four death row convicts. Thereafter, there were rumours false rumours about Nirbhaya’s mother contesting the upcoming Delhi polls as a Congress candidate against the Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo, Arvind Kejriwal.

The fact that the utterly sensitive issue was politicised in such a sensational manner is in itself a matter of great shame. What further reveals the cheap tactics of the Congress is the fact that the Congress’ election in-charge in Delhi, Kirti Jha Azad, himself took to Twitter in an attempt to push the fake news for gaining political benefit out of it.
Azad tweeted, “Welcome Asha Devi,” and claimed that she had joined the Congress. However, it did not take long before the fake news tweeted by him got exposed.

Asha Devi herself refuted the claims of her joining the Sonia Gandhi led party. She said, “I have no interest in politics and have not spoken to anyone in Congress party. I only want justice for my daughter and the execution of the convicts.”
She has also made it clear that she was not approached by anyone for joining the Congress. She added, “Mera politics se dur dur tak koi nata nahi hai (I have no connection with politics).”
The Congress could not have stooped lower than this. And remember the tweet about Asha Devi joining the Congress has not come from any ordinary party leader, but from cricketer turned politician, Kirti Azad himself who is currently the election in-charge for the Congress in Delhi.
As of now, there is no other issue which is as emotive as the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case. The heinous crime which had shaken the conscience of the entire nation continues to affect the citizens of the country till date. For the last seven years, the entire nation has been waiting for justice in this heart-wrenching case, along with the parents of the victim.
Out of all issues, the Congress chose to make political use of the brutal incident that is one of the most sensitive issues in the country. This shows how desperate the Congress has become. It no longer even cares to show, for the sake of it, that is a responsible political party. The party cannot look beyond petty politics and did not even spare the mother of the gang rape and murder victim, who has been fighting for justice for the last seven years.
