Over the years as the scions of the Gandhi family, Rahul and Priyanka, assumed important roles in the Congress party, it has become clear what direction the party is heading. However, no one would have thought that a national party of such stature would put a blot on the legacy of the Veer Savarkar by shamelessly stating that he was in a homosexual relationship with Nathuram Godse. Congress has stooped to a new low in India politics by initiating a vicious campaign against a freedom fighter.
Congress party’s Seva Dal released an utterly disgusting booklet on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It has claimed that the Hindu Mahasabha co-founder had a physical relationship with Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. The booklet titled ‘Veer Savarkar Kitne Veer? (Veer Savarkar, How Brave?)’ was distributed among volunteers during the inauguration of the Seva Dal national training camp in Bhopal’s Bairagarh on Thursday. It is worth mentioning that Seva Dal works as a social welfare arm of the Congress party. The content depicts absolute shamelessness as Nathuram Godse considered Veer Savarkar as his Guru.
Referring to an incident mentioned in Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins’s ‘Freedom at Midnight’, the Congress booklet said, “Before adopting brahmacharya, there is only one mention of Nathuram Godse’s physical relationship. His [Godse] partner in his homosexual relationship was Veer Savarkar.” The questions include ‘Did Savarkar encourage Hindus to rape of minority women?’ and the answer to the question, as mentioned in the Congress’s booklet, is a ‘Yes’.
This booklet exhibits the level of sycophancy among the Congress leaders as Rahul Gandhi too had on several occasions mocked Veer Savarkar. Recently, he foolishly tried to compare himself with Veer Savarkar during a Congress rally. The Gandhi scion had said, “My name is Rahul Gandhi, not Rahul Savarkar.”
The literature also claims that Savarkar had pelted stones at a mosque when he was 12 years old. The booklet describes RSS as a “Nazi and fascist” organisation and that it took inspiration from Hitler’s Nazism and Mussolini’s fascism.
Confirming the news and shamelessly defending the inappropriate content, Congress Seva Dal National President Lalji Desai said that they are based on facts. “It is important for the public to know the reality of the people who are presented as heroes by the BJP,” Desai said.
Congress has stooped to a new low with this kind of imagery being used for a fierce freedom fighter who sacrificed everything for the nation. Congress’ latest ideology is a blot on the culture of India which sees national leaders in reverence. It must be noted the Nehru-Gandhi family is the real perpetrator, as they have openly disrespected several national leaders from Ambedkar to PV Narasimha Rao, however the amount of poison they have spewed for Veer Savarkar is unforgivable.
