Uddhav Thackeray calls Jamia another Jallianwala Bagh. The man is officially secular disaster

What has got into him?

In what can only be described as the greatest insult to those who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Indian independence during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, Shiv Sena supremo, Uddhav Thackeray has likened the Jamia Milia Islamia violence with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

In order to prove his loyalty to the secular Congress, Uddhav Thackeray seems to have gone full liberal by drawing an analogy between the two events.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, the Maharashtra CM said, “The manner in which the police entered the campus in Delhi and students were fired on, I was reminded of the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy. Are we creating a Jallianwala Bagh-like situation in this country by trying to scare students.” He did not stop here and seems to have given a subtle justification for the kind of violence that was unleashed by the Jamia protesters. He said, “In a country or a state where the youth are angry, there cannot be peace. The youth are our strength. We will soon be the country with the highest number of youth. Youth power is a bomb and I request the government not to ignite it.”

His disgusting statement has now created a furore, and he continues to draw fire over his shameful remarks. Former Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis has said that the Shiv Sena President’s remarks are a “big, big insult” to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Tweeting a video, in which the Jamia students can be heard raising “Hinduon se Azadi” slogans, the former Maharashtra CM said, “Equating Jamia University incident with Jallianwala bagh massacre by CM Uddhav ji Thackeray is big big insult to all the martyrs who have sacrificed their life for our Nation. Entire Nation & Maharashtra wants to know if Uddhav ji agrees with these slogans?”

Another video of the incident has surfaced in which the Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police can be heard appealing for peace to the Jamia Milia Islamia students and also asking them not to throw stones and other objects at the police personnel standing outside the University gates. He also requested the student representatives to come out and interact with the police officials. Speaking in a very calm and composed manner, he also went on to assure that police is there for the protection of the students and that they do not want to carry out any action against the students. However, the “student-activists” can be heard hurling abuses at the police officials, showing the level to which they had stooped.

Despite clear evidences of the Delhi Police playing an accomodative role and the JMI students going berserk, violent and behaving like vandals, Uddhav Thackeray has gone to the extent of comparing Delhi Police with General Dyer and his troops. What is even more anguishing is the fact that he has compared those patriots who gave up their lives for the country with communal radicals who speak in the language of dividing the country with their “Azaadi” slogans. This is the difference between the Jamia Milia Islamia students and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. To draw any comparison between the two is a cardinal and unforgivable sin. And Uddhav Thackeray has committed that only in order to stay in power and to strengthen his volatile alliance with the NCP and the Congress.
