Once upon a time, in the land of Africa, peace reigned throughout the lush green forests. There was no atmosphere of fear or violence. Nobody fought with another needlessly, or even snatched the food of anyone else. The ruler of the lands was Mufasa, who was both kind and just. He was dedicated towards the laws of the jungle. This was why the greedy and the cunning, especially the hideous hyenas dare not enter the Pride Lands.
Mufasa had a brother, whose name was Scar. However, unlike Mufasa, he was weak and cowardly, and bore no qualities that even resembled his elder brother. Add to that, he was also jealous and cunning to the core. He was friendly with the hyenas, but he never let Mufasa know of this. He always dreamt of usurping the kingdom for himself. However, he knew that it was impossible to defeat Mufasa in an open duel. One day, the forest kingdom was in for some pleasant news. King Mufasa’s wife Sarabi gave birth to a cub, who looked powerful from the birth. He was named Simba. The desire to usurp the empire in Scar now became stronger. Then, one day, tragedy befell the forest kingdom of Pride Lands.
Simba fell between a crowd of wildebeest. Mufasa rescued him, but he lost his footing as he climbed a steep ridge. Scar was present as well, however, instead of helping him, Scar pushed him off the ridge. Mufasa fell right between the crowd of wildebeest and was crushed in their stampede. Mufasa was dead, and the kingdom of Pride Lands had lost their ruler. Not only was Simba orphaned, but Scar also made him feel responsible for the death of his own father. Little Simba left the Pride Lands, while Scar usurps the Pride Lands with the help of the hyenas. The land where peace reigned, the land where there was no fear or violence, soon fell prey to the maladministration of Scar and became barren and desolate. Most of the animals had left the Pride Lands, but there was no dearth of luxury for Scar and his mates.
Later, Simba becomes a powerful lion, who is reminded of his glorious past by his old friend Nala. He comes back and challenges Scar, who freezes at the moment he notices the resemblance of Mufasa in Simba. He tries to plead for forgiveness and puts the entire blame on the hyenas. However, the hyenas overheard the same and angered by the betrayal, they kill him.
This is the tale of The Lion King, and something same is happening in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra is an affluent state, whose Mufasa was Devendra Fadnavis. But Uddhav Thackeray turned out to be the Scar, who felt jealous of his popularity. His hyena friends turn out to be none other than the allaince partners of Maha Vikas Aghadi, i.e. NCP and Congress in Maharashtra. The Simba is our public, whose mandate was crushed in the pursuit of power.
However the twist in the tale is that the Mufasa is just down, not dead. In such a case, the Scar of today will once again blame the hyenas for his misdeeds, and the Simba, already in the support of the Mufasa, shall ensure his return once again. We don’t need rocket science to know what will happen to the modern Scar.
