Ajay Devgn is literally on a roll. After setting the stage for the much-awaited period drama ‘Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior’, Ajay has now announced his next installment in the ‘Unsung Warrior’ franchise. If all goes well, Ajay Devgn shall bring forth the tale of brave warrior Suheldev.
In an interview to the Mumbai Mirror, Ajay Devgn spoke, “We’ve shortlisted quite a few. But the next one will be based on King Suheldev, who defeated Ghazi Salar Masud of Ghazni’s army in Bahraich. Ghazni had got the Somnath Temple razed and after defeating him, Suheldev rebuilt it. The film will be based on Amish Tripathi’s book, which he is currently working on.” Amish Tripathi is planning to release the book once the Shri Ram Chandra series has been completed.
For those unaware, Veer Suheldev was a warrior ruler of Bahraich, who gathered a huge force to defeat and slay the regent of Mahmud of Ghazni, Ghazi Syed Salar Masud, in the Battle of Bahraich in 1034. The united forces of Bharat defeated the Turk Afghan invaders to that extent that they didn’t dare to attack Bharat for another 140 years.
With this announcement, Ajay Devgn has given yet another nightmare to the liberal intelligentsia. Before the trailer launch of Tanhaji, Ajay Devgn had already set the narrative by announcing that the legendary Amar Chitra Katha shall be his promotional partner. To quote his tweet, “History may not repeat itself but lessons of bravery & valour from our shur-veer yoddhas like Tanaji are a great example for our children. I’m happy to announce a special edition of Amar Chitra Katha featuring Tanhaji.”
This is not all. Ajay Devgn’s future projects indicate his inclination towards the project that is more than just mere lip service. His forthcoming project – ‘Bhuj – The Pride of India’ is based on how Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik inspired 300 Gujarat villagers to reconstruct the badly damaged airbase of Bhuj during the 1971 Indo Pak War. Another movie, ‘Maidaan’, shall focus on the golden era of Indian football under the coaching of Syed Abdul Rahim, to be played by Ajay Devgn himself.
This is not all, Ajay Devgn shall also bring to the silver screen the legendary personality of the creator of Akhand Bharat, that is, Acharya Chanakya, as he plays the titular role in Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming biopic. Apart from that, Ajay Devgn is also doing his bit to make sure that not only are the real heroes given their due, but also the message should be loud and clear: one cannot distort for their interest.
Besides, going by Ajay’s current tactics, it seems that he is just not focusing on facelifting the image of Bollywood but also irking the liberal intelligentsia with his unconventional choices. For instance, speaking about decorated army officer cum military historian Major General Gagan Deep Bakshi is almost a taboo for our Indian liberals. But Ajay Devgn not only invited him to the launch of Tanhaji’s second trailer but gave him due respect as well. Ajay even denounced the violent protests against CAA, saying very recently, “We’re influential people, we need to be sensible while making statements.”
As such, Ajay Devgn is doing his bit to retell the actual Indian history, and we can’t thank him enough for that.
