National Spokesperson of BJP, Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi was yesterday elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh, on the seat which was previously held by former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and was subsequently vacated following the stalwart’s demise. While speaking to ANI, Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “Party gives responsibility to the workers from time to time. I also did my responsibility according to the party.” Trivedi had filed his nomination on Friday in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and other senior leaders of the party.
Sudhanshu Trivedi’s nomination came as a surprise, however, the results were very much expected to be in his favour in totality, courtesy the huge majority which the BJP enjoys in the UP state assembly. One must climb the BJP ladder based on merit, especially in the national scene. Similar is the case with Sudhanshu Trivedi and his long association with the party. Trivedi has stood with the BJP in all its recent ups and downs, and has fought well and defended the party with class when the need arose.

Sudhanshu Trivedi who originally hails from Lucknow, holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and has also served as faculty at various universities, including the Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya. Prior to assuming the role of BJP’s National Spokesperson, Sudhanshu Trivedi served as the Information Advisor to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the youngest ever individual to have served at the position.
Trivedi also served as the political advisor to the then BJP President, Shri Rajnath Singh. As such, he played a crucial role in ensuring BJP’s magnificent victory in 2014. He was a member of the Media & Communications core team of the BJP, which also consisted of top BJP leaders Lt. Arun Jaitley, Lt. Sushma Swaraj and Amit Shah. For the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sudhanshu Trivedi was given co-charge of the state of Rajasthan, a state which BJP swept completely.
Post 2014, Trivedi became a well known face on Indian television. Well versed with both Hindi and English, Sudhanshu Trivedi is an articulate orator on matters related to politics, Indian culture. When it comes to matters where Hinduism, its practices and the shared heritage of this country is brought under question, Sudhanshu Trivedi is the go-to man for all media channels and their barons. He is prolific scholar and has extensive knowledge on Hindu culture.
A mature National Spokesperson, the BJP fields Trivedi in times of distress, when the party is on the defensive. His skills in putting forth his arguments, coupled with Hindi and Urdu ‘shaayris’, are unparalleled. Particularly praise worthy is Trivedi’s tone. Usually calm, often seeking decorum in debates; however, when forced to, nobody shuts their opponents as well as Sudhanshu Trivedi does.
Having served the party with such vigour and dedication, it was only befitting for the BJP to nominate Dr. Trivedi to the Rajya Sabha. Merit is recognised in the party. It is a defining factor which sets the BJP apart from the other dynastic parties that simply refuse to let the power centre be shifted away from their family lines. There was a time when even Ravi Shankar Prasad served as the National Spokersperson of the BJP. Today, he is a Union minister. This gives us hope that talent will not be wasted in the party, and will be utilised and recognised to the fullest when the time comes.
