Communists have no religion. Conditions Apply*

Since when have communists become apologists for religions?

Umar Khalid, Prophet, Communist, Atheist

Umar Khalid, the JNU student who came to the limelight after the JNU sedition controversy and had claimed to be an atheist, has taken to Twitter to explain Prophet Muhammad’s compassion. Umar Khalid is known for his criticism of Hinduism. In many interviews, ‘the atheist and communist’, Umar Khalid claimed that Hinduism is dominated by Upper caste, and that whenever he went to posh colonies, he found only upper-caste surnames scribbled on nameplates of the houses.

A few days ago, Kamlesh Tiwari, 43, was killed at his residence in the Naka neighbourhood of Lucknow on Friday. His throat was barbarically slit and he was shot multiple times and died while being escorted to a hospital.

Kamlesh Tiwari’s murder was planned because he made a statement against Prophet Muhammad. In 2015, SP leader Azam Khan called RSS workers ‘Gay’, and in response, Tiwari said that the Islamic Prophet was also Gay, practicising his freedom of speech but it did not go down well with some Muslims. The Muslims clerics issued a fatwa against Tiwari and one religious leader even put bounty of 51 lakh rupees for his head. More than a lakh Muslims also protested calling for a death penalty for Kamlesh Tiwari.

After his brutal murder, while a large section of people were fuming on social media, few people from Muslim community started congratulating each other on social media. It led to widespread anger among thousands of Hindus who tweeted with hashtags against the Islamic Prophet.

Umar Khalid, who is self-proclaimed communist and atheist, got triggered by the trend against Prophet Muhammad, and instead of condemning the murderers, he tweeted with hashtag ‘Prophet of Compassion’.

“The Hindutva brigade is desperate to divide. In their hatred for Muslims & Islam, they are now openly abusing the Prophet. How do we respond? The life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) teaches us that the best way to respond to hatred is by love & compassion,” wrote Khalid with deep reverence unlikely of an atheist.

On February 18, as the JNU sedition controversy made the headlines, The Scroll, The Hindu and others attempted to defend Umar Khalid who was being questioned for his connections with Islamists and for participating in the protests that yelled anti-India slogans. The leftist media outlet, The Scroll, claimed that, far from being an Islamist, he is a Communist and Atheist. “The Democratic Students Union, of which Khalid was a part, had Maoism as its ideology and was left even by JNU’s own rather radical standards. Khalid has described himself as a “Marxist-Leninist” in writings that are publicly available,” wrote The Scroll.

The media outlet claimed that given his Communist ideology, Khalid is an Atheist. “Given his ideology as a communist, Khalid was an atheist. Khalid’s lack of religious belief is confirmed by his friends, family and acquaintances,” claimed Scroll.

However, Khalid has completely dropped the pretense with his latest Twitter thread as he claimed that Prophet was a man of peace, compassion, social justice warrior, and economic justice seeker. This raises questions as to why he and the entire leftist establishment pulled all the strings to assert that he was a communist and an atheist when he was caught leading a protest that was against the very idea of India.

We all, irrespective of our faith, need to learn from the Prophet life and teachings. Prophet is not just for Muslims, but for all. He is not just Rahmatul Muslimeen. He is Rahmatul Alameen. A rahmat for the entire alam, the entire world! #ProphetofCompassion

Yes, we will never disrespect anyone's faith. But, we need to hold police accountable for their inaction to such hate being spread on social media to incite& polarize. The latter is not just about Muslims, but about Constitution of India. #ProphetofCompassion

(End of thread)

— Umar Khalid (@UmarKhalidJNU) October 20, 2019

It is ironic to see that Umar Khalid got triggered at the whiff of blasphemy against Islam. Freedom of speech is a fundamental value that Indian Communists ride on and atheists would at the least be indifferent to religion around them, unlike Umar Khalid who may indeed have been an Islamist all the way, since the time he organised the “Bharat Tere Tukde honge, Inshallah Inshallah” protests in JNU.

Khalid is the second most popular Muslim figure who pretended to adhere by Communist ideology in JNU but sent out more Islamist vibes than anything else. Previously, Shehla Rashid, who was Vice President of JNUSU, when the anti-India slogans were raised in JNU, turned into a Hijab-wearing Muslim after she went back to Kashmir valley. In JNU, she used to talk about feminism and women empowerment. She joined Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), founded by Shah Faesal. To start her political career in Kashmir, Rashid became a Burqa-wearing Muslim.

Umar Khalid could also possibly looking for a career in politics. The father of Umar Khalid, Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas contested 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Murshidabad’s Jangipur seat in West Bengal. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas is the former member of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), which is a banned Islamist organization in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He is the current president of Welfare Party of India.

As they faced backlash from Indians, the likes of Umar Khalid, Shehla Rashid and Kanhaiya have pretended to be progressive, atheists and communists but all they have truly ever been are closet Islamists that despise the idea of India.
