After failing to convince the international community about its false narrative on Kashmir, Pakistan was pinning its hopes on the Muslim Ummah. Even as Pakistan’s ill intended diplomatic offensive post the abrogation of Article 370 by India failed to deliver any desirable results for Pakistan, it tried to convince Muslim nations across the world to condemn India. However, in what comes as a huge diplomatic shock for Pakistan, some influential Muslim nations have refused to buy Pakistan’s aggressive Kashmir rhetoric and have requested Pakistan PM Imran Khan to tone down his rhetoric against India and engage in backdoor diplomacy in order to de-escalate the ongoing tensions with India.
As per a report, when Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Al-Nahyan travelled together to Islamabad, they carried an important message with themselves on behalf of the leadership of their countries as well as some of the other powerful countries. They advised Pakistan to engage in backdoor diplomacy with India and also requested the Pakistan PM to tone down his verbal attacks against India. This definitely came as a sudden shock to Pakistan, which has rejected these requests. As per an Express Tribune report, the Saudi and UAE ministers met Pakistan Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and the Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa during their visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
As it turns out, Pakistan’s dependence on Muslim Ummah for drawing diplomatic leverage and greater bargaining power on the issue of Kashmir was a gross miscalculation. While Pakistan did not have any compelling arguments to make, it was only relying upon communal propaganda in order to somehow get influential Muslim nations into condemning India’s move on Kashmir. Despite its rhetoric about genocide in Kashmir, the influential Muslim nations have refused to believe in its fake and malicious propaganda. The fact remains that UAE and Saudi Arabia share close ties with India.
Ever since, abrogation of Article 370, Pakistan’s behaviour has been abnormally aggressive. The terrorist country has repeatedly tried to push a bellicose narrative after failed attempts to corner India at multilateral forums regarding abrogation of Article 370. With direct or indirect threats of exporting Jihadist terrorism into India and a nuclear conflict, coming right from the top of the political leadership in Pakistan, it became clear that it is Pakistan which is trying to unnecessarily create tensions in the region and cause unrest in Kashmir. In fact, Pakistan did everything that it could have in order to escalate the ongoing diplomatic battles into a major conflict. It downgraded diplomatic ties with India, snapped trade ties, closed road and rail traffic with India, carried out a major military build up in attempt to push in terrorists en masse into India and even closed its airspace again. However, this only seems to have helped India in convincing the entire world about Pakistan’s nefarious designs.
Recently, Pakistan had suffered a virtual meltdown after the UAE awarded PM Modi with the country’s highest civil honour, Order of Zayed. Intially, the Pakistanis felt a deep heartburn when they realized that it has been brutally snubbed over its fake yet vociferous allegations about India concerning Kashmir. The Pakistani citizens had a major meltdown and they tried trending #ShameOnUAE on twitter. Most of the tweets involved distasteful caricatures and bizarre allegations against India. Some of them even made communal remarks and tried to project the decision to award PM Modi as detrimental to Muslim unity. Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjran had also cancelled his UAE visit in view of this development. While the UAE made it clear that abrogation of Article 370 was an internal matter of India. Other countries like Saudi Arabia, on whom Pakistan must have been betting heavily, have remained silent and now the “message” to Pakistani leadership has clearly heavily tilted yet another diplomatic battle between India and Pakistan in India’s favour. This is a major diplomatic jolt for Pakistan as it has been slapped back to its senses by the Muslim Ummah.
