Bash India, Bash Hindus, Bash BJP – get a job in Washington Post
Share on FacebookShare on X

It’s a wedding season in the town, and this time we have a match made in Heaven. Rana Ayyub joins the infamous Washington Post as a contributing writer in its Global Opinions section. Ayyub, who is based in Mumbai, will write regularly about political affairs in India. She was previously an editor with the investigative magazine Tehelka. She is also the author of “Gujarat Files: Anatomy of a Cover-Up”, the same book which was slammed by Supreme Court in the Haren Pandya murder case saying that the book by Rana Ayyub is of no utility as it was based upon surmises, conjectures, and suppositions, and had no evidentiary value. She joins the elitist bunch of journalists to have joined the anti-India Washington Post which includes the likes of Barkha Dutt and Sadanand Dhume.

The Washington Post today announced Indian journalist @RanaAyyub as its latest contributing writer to the Global Opinions section. Ayyub, who is based in Mumbai, will write regularly about political affairs in India.https://t.co/RJvAjjuIzF

What is funny is that Rana Ayyub had once been insulted, and her credibility was questioned on Al Jazeera by Sadanand Dhume himself, who used to carry lesser negative opinions on India before making a self-serving u-turn.

Ms. Rana Ayyub is a staunch critic of Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, BJP and RSS, in short, she is against the very basic idea of nationalism in India and can be described as a malicious hinduphobe. She tries to portray the Muslims of India as hapless victims, who are perennially subjected to cruelty from the majority community with the silent complicity of the dispensation at the center. When there was nationwide outrage over the open slaughter of a cow by Congress workers in Kerala, Rana Ayyub hailed the act as ‘revolutionary’ knowing fully well that the cow is sacred to Hindus and is revered as a mother, and there is no need to be a bigot against the sentiments of the majority community.

If Rana Ayyub does an honest appraisal about the cause for the rising Islamophobia, she will realize that people like her are one of the major causes of this. By selectively tweeting against communal violence, by disgustingly and shamelessly playing the victim card at the drop of a hat, by not raising her voice against radical Islamists, she is not doing any favors to the Muslim community and is rather causing harm to them by putting them in poor light. The earlier she realizes this fact, the better for her and the many patriotic and well-meaning Indian Muslims who fall for her toxic narrative.

Barkha Dutt permanently resigned from NDTV and later joined Washington Post as contributing columnist in January 2017, although she might be clouded by her biases at times, she maintains the journalistic aspects of the job, whereas Rana can at best be described as a twitter troll who only howls in the echo-chambers of social media, with absolute disregards for facts and the truth. The west-liberal media which so dearly and routinely hates on the Indian PM could not have found a better ally in Ayyub who has this new-found opportunity to peddle her propaganda and the false-narrative on India. Rana Ayyub has been against the de-operationalisation of Article 370 and since then been posting made-up and false stories about Kashmir and its people, selling an alarmist view in favour of the Pakistani line on Kashmir. Twitter had a field-day trolling whilst congratulating Rana for her new job position. Some tweets were gold, to say the least.

https://twitter.com/Rahul0427111/status/1177212606202990592

The irony is that for her "Global Opinion" means "opinion AGAINST Modi" only! 😊

— Ashish Kaul (@er_ashishk77) September 27, 2019

It is beyond an iota of doubt that both Ayyub and Washington Post are going to be thick as thieves and we should brace ourselves for a slew of anti-India rhetoric articles in the future. The foreign media like New York Times, Washington Post, BBC have tried all in their might to project PM Modi as a devil who has no respect for the democratic fabric of India but alas! They have failed, repeatedly. So, when a bigot like Rana Ayyub joins such a media organisation to further paint a distorted picture of India, we should not be startled.
