The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan has truly set an example on how to be a good samaritan. Lack of road safety has been a pertinent issue in our country for quite some time now. Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, had stated earlier this year that more than one lakh people lose their lives each year because of accidents. In order to improve road safety in the country, the government has planned to spend more than Rs. 20,000 crore in an ambitious plan to fix accident-prone black spots on highways, underpasses, roads, flyovers and others, across the country. Modi government is clearly trying to ensure that world class road infrastructure is created in the country, in order to make the Indian roads safe for commuting and bring down the number of accidents.
While policy makers and governments are trying to improve road safety in the country, the commuters should also play their part in improving road safety standards of the country. Immediate help in case of major accidents can make all the difference. While the policymakers bring about crucial changes in order to enhance road safety, the ordinary citizens as commuters can reduce the number of road accident-related casualties by taking the necessary steps in times of need. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has demonstrated how anybody can be a good samaritan if one has love for the country and its people.
