While the nation awaits the 12th of August premier of Man vs Wild, where ace adventurer Bear Grylls will be joined by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an adventure of a lifetime at the pristine and breathtaking Jim Corbett national park in Uttarakhand; a snippet of the show released by the Discovery network along with providing an insight into the much awaited telecast has further sparked curiosity in nature and wildlife enthusiasts across India.
In the snippet PM Modi and Bear Grylls are shown venturing through the jungles of Uttarakhand, in a part Bear Grylls is seen handing over an improvised spear to PM Modi for his protection against any dangerous encounter with tigers, elephants and other wild animals which inhabit these jungles, usually the show involves hunting as a part of survival strategy, to which PM Modi replied “My upbringing does not allow me to take a life. However, I will hold on it (the spear) since you insist!”
Bear Grylls also asked Prime Minister Modi about need and efforts towards cleanliness of India, to which Prime Minister Modi replied “Someone from outside cannot clean my India, the people of India make India clean. Personal hygiene is in the culture of the Indian people. We need to develop the habit of social hygiene. Mahatma Gandhi has done lot of work on it and recently we are getting good success in this. I believe India will succeed in this very soon.”
The show involves an innovative and resourceful survival strategy to move through dangerous terrains; PM Modi’s with his experience of living in the forests on fugal means is also sure to surprise Bear Grylls and the audience. PM Modi during his youth years had left his home and went on to live in the Himalayan forests for many years “actually at the age of 17-18 I left-my home, I was think of which direction should I take my life, I liked nature and also got to meet a lot of people and live among them, I spent a lot of time there….that time is still the strength of my life”. Along with showing his love for wildlife and nature in this episode, PM Modi through is interest in conservation of wildlife and nature is sure to inspire a lot of Indian’s to do the same.
