If PM Modi and the Central Government have hurt someone the most with the abrogation of Article 370, it is the Pakistani establishment apart from our left liberal intellectuals. Ever since the provisions that gave special status to the region of Jammu & Kashmir have been removed, it has left our ‘beloved neighbor’ shell shocked. Their reactions are an indicator of how they are unable to digest the fact that Article 370 is now a mere footnote in Indian history.
However, going a step ahead, Malala Yousafzai, considered ‘the pride of Pakistan’ had this to say on the current issue, as posted on her Twitter timeline –
The people of Kashmir have lived in conflict since I was a child, since my mother and father were children, since my grandparents were young. pic.twitter.com/Qdq0j2hyN9
— Malala Yousafzai (@Malala) August 8, 2019
To quote an extract from the open letter – “There is no need for us to continue to suffer and hurt each other. Today I am worried about the safety of the Kashmiri children and women, the most vulnerable to violence and the most likely to suffer losses in conflict.
I hope all South Asians, the international community and concerned authorities respond to their suffering. Whatever disagreements we may have, we must always defend human rights, prioritize the safety of children and women and focus on peacefully resolving the seven decade old conflict in Kashmir.”
The letter proves once again as to how there is no competition to the hypocrisy of Malala Yousafzai. After the removal of Article 370, she wishes to portray to the world that India is an aggressor in Kashmir. However, the truth is that Malala Yousafzai has herself not returned home, since she continues to detest being murdered in another terror attack like the one that almost claimed her life in 2012. When she remains mum on the barbaric atrocities meted out to Balochistan residents, it is not right for a ‘Nobel Prize Laureate’ like Malala to sermonize us on the issue of Kashmir.
However, if someone takes a look at her profile, he / she shall find out that this is not the first occasion where the world has learnt of Malala’s hypocrisy. Even before that, Malala Yousafzai has tried to portray the retaliation of the Indian armed forces against the terrorists as that of atrocities against the hapless Kashmiris. This is not all, when a Twitter user sought her response on the forced conversions of Hindu girls in Pakistan, Malala, living up to her hypocritical attitude, blocked him on Twitter altogether. Also, when India finished last in the friendly cricket championship, organized during the opening ceremony of ICC World Cup, it seemed that Malala was the happiest, going by her reaction. Now if this is not hypocrisy, what is it?
In such a scenario, it is hard to figure out as to what Malala Yousafzai actually wants. It is her nation who invades Kashmir and attempts to destroy the peaceful Valley. She is unequivocally critical of the so called human rights violations in Kashmir Valley, but stays mum when asked to speak on the atrocities meted on Balochistan.
