Former Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, has once again displayed her wit on microblogging website Twitter. She shut down troll for wishing death upon her. The troll had given a shameful reply to the former Foreign Minister. She had posted a condolence message about the death of former Delhi BJP President, Mange Ram Garg. She expressed sorrow on his passing away and said that Garg was a loyal and dedicated worker of the BJP. She also said that he fulfilled all his responsibilities at several posts with a lot of dedication. Swaraj also praised Garg for serving the society even after his death. She said that by pledging his organs, he sacrificed even his last remains for the society.

A Twitter troll, Irfan A Khan, posted a shameful reply on Swaraj’s tweet condoling Garg’s death. Khan wrote, “Aap ki bhi boht yaad ayegi ek din #SheilaDixit Ji ki tarah AmmA (You will be missed one day like Sheila Dixit).” It is important to mention here that the former Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit passed away recently. Therefore, by posting this reply, the troll was clearly wishing death upon Sushma Swaraj, former Foreign Minister and one of the most admired political personalities in India. However, Swaraj maintained her calm and composure and took down the troll with a witty reply.
Swaraj replied, “Is bhawana ke liye apko mera agrim dhanyawad. I thank you in anticipation for this kind thought.” Therefore, while the troll had crossed all limits of decency, Swaraj did not lose her temper and was able to shut him up in a brilliant way. This kind of grace and wit, even while facing such obnoxious trolls, is what has made senior BJP leader and former External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj a highly popular leader.
In fact, the former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is known for her gracious and witty replies on social media. Earlier this year, a Twitter user had questioned her for taking part in ‘Main bhi Chowkidar’ campaign launched by the BJP as a retort to Rahul Gandhi’s failed ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ jibe. That user had tweeted, “Ma’am we thought you were our Foreign Minister. The only one most sensible in BJP. Why do you call yourself Chowkidar.” Sushma Swaraj had the perfect reply to this tweet. She said, “Because I am doing Chowkidari of Indian interests and Indian nationals abroad.”

Similarly, in 2017, a Twitter user names Karan Saini had stated, ““@SushmaSwaraj I am stuck on mars, food sent via Mangalyaan (987 days ago), is running out, when is Mangalyaan-II being sent ? @isro.” It must be noted here that during her tenure as the Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj became known for extending help promptly to Indians facing problems abroad, including when someone asked for help through twitter. Saini thus posted a witty tweet about the same. However, Sushma Swaraj was equal to the task and she replied, “Even if you are stuck on the Mars, Indian Embassy there will help you.”

Sushma Swaraj emerged as an embodiment of grace and composure on social media during her tenure as India’s foreign minister. Now, she is no longer a cabinet minister but the wit and calmness of the senior BJP leader have clearly remained intact.
