Shabana Azmi is a known actress of the Hindi film industry who has often been praised for her acting skills. However, in the past, she has been more in the news for her acerbic criticism of both PM Modi and the Hindu community. Recently, she said that there is an atmosphere in the country where anybody who criticizes the government is termed as anti-national. She made this statement in an event recently conducted in Indore, where coincidentally, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and his wife Amrita Rai were also allegedly present.
Criticising the government, Shabana Azmi said, “An atmosphere is being created in this nation, where if you criticize anyone, especially the government, you are immediately termed as anti national. We should not be scared of them and we don’t need their certificates. We will do what we want, we have been brought as per the Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb and we know that Hindustan is a beautiful country. If you try to divide people like that, it is not right for the country.”
India is a democratic nation, where everybody has the freedom to speak whatever they want. However, the way Shabana Azmi ranted at the event in Indore, she wished to prove as if PM Modi had robbed everyone of their freedom of speech and expression, ignoring the fact that an overwhelming majority had elected him to power. The fact that Shabana Azmi is a distinguished member of the Intolerance brigade is hidden from none. She is quite troubled by the situations of the nation from time to time, but when it comes to supporting the likes of Kanhaiya Kumar in their electoral campaigns, all the ethics go for a toss.
This is not the first time that Shabana hasn’t misused her freedom of speech in order to unnecessarily bash Modi government or the Sanatan Hindu community. Take for example her statement on the occasion of Navratri, where she wrote in her tweet as noted below –

When most of the netizens, including actress Kangana Ranaut, criticized Shabana for her hypocrisy, she tried to shift the blame by saying she never posted the tweet, only to suffer further humiliation when her lies were royally exposed. In order to further agenda, Shabana wouldn’t hesitate from taking the help of fake news either. Only the previous year, in the month of June, Shabana tried to target Piyush Goyal through a fake news article, though her plans went in vain.
Shabana had then tweeted a video, wherein she tried to prove that workers of the Indian Railways washed utensils with contaminated water, in which food is served to the passengers. Shabana even tried to humiliate the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal by tagging him in the same. However, the Railways demolished Shabana’s propaganda and took her to the cleaners for the misleading video. In its tweet, the Railways clarified that the video was actually from a Malaysian restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, due to which they were forced to close down the restaurant. Consequently, Shabana was forced to seek an apology for the same.

However, her antics never really stopped, and it seems that Shabana has a special place for the Rohingya migrants in her heart. This was proved when former Bollywood actress Koena Mitra slammed Mamata Banerjee in her tweet and labeled the Rohingyas as a threat to India’s security.
It didn’t take much time for Shabana to come to the Rohingyas’ rescue and indulge in a nasty Twitter war with Koena over the same, as shown below –

It is not entirely unexpected from Shabana Azmi to give such venomous statements, as she has been consistently spewing venom against the Sanatan Hindus and the BJP. She is now worried for India, even when she shamelessly pollutes the environment of the nation by supporting anti-Indian forces. Such people won’t be affected by any sort of criticism, no matter how much we bash them for their deeds. It is time that the nation shows the door to such agenda driven ‘intellectuals. ’
