In a massive development, Telugu Desam Party Rajya Sabha MPs have passed a resolution to merge the legislature party of TDP with the BJP. TDP’s party leader in Rajya Sabha YS Chowdary and Deputy leader CM Ramesh issued a press release in this regard. According to media reports, the resolution has been approved by four out of six TDP MPs in Rajya Sabha.

According to the resolution passed by the legislature party, “Inspired and encouraged by the impeccable leadership of Shri Narendra Modi ji and the developmental policies being pursued by him in the overall interest of the nation, we have decided to merge with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with immediate effect under paragraph 4 of the Tenth Schedule to the Constitution of India.”
The resolution argued that as per the 10th schedule of the Constitution — which prescribes the anti-defection law — two-thirds of a legislature party can shift loyalties without losing their membership.
While the rebellion of the Legislature party in Rajya Sabha comes as a huge blow to Chandrababu Naidu, it is shot in the arms for the BJP as the party is still short of majority in the Rajya Sabha.
Acting President of BJP, JP Nadda has welcomed the TDP MPs within the BJP fold. “TDP MPs were impressed by the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we welcome them to the BJP”, stated JP Nadda.

The 2019 General Election was historic in more than one ways, first it marked the return of a non-congress party to power and it also was the graveyard of stalwarts from across party lines. Picture this, Rahul Gandhi lost from Amethi, Mallikarjun Kharge lost from Gulbarga, HD Deve Gowda lost from Hassan, and Ashok Chavan lost from Nanded. But in this August gathering of eminent losers, there is a loser who outshines the others. And that man is none other than Nara Chandrababu Naidu of the Telugu Desam party. Naidu was crushed by Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in both state assembly polls and the general elections in the State. Naidu led TDP was reduced to just 23 seats out of the total 175 Assembly constituencies in the state, and in the Lok Sabha Elections, TDP was reduced to just 3 Parliamentary Constituencies in the state out of the total 25. But looks like the humiliation for Chandrababu Naidu is far from over. As per the latest updates, Naidu is about to lose at least 4 out of his 6 Rajya Sabha MPs. This must be like a bolt from the blue for Naidu, who is still smarting after being out-flanked by Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo.
