The controversy surrounding the sexual harassment case against CJI has a new revelation. Advocate ML Sharma has blamed that public interest lawyer of Supreme Court, Prashant Bhushan, had helped the woman who accused the CJI of sexual harassment.
Sharma, who keeps filing PIL in all the controversial cases, mentioned in his petition that Shanti Bhushan, Prashant Bhushan, Indira Jaising and others allegedly played an important role in attacking the CJI with accusation of sexual harassment. They helped the former woman employee in filing the complaint against CJI Ranjan Gogoi. In his petition, he also asked for urgent hearing in front of the CJI but Gogoi asked him to approach another bench.
ML Sharma will be approaching the bench of Justice SA Bobde, who along with three other judges, is probing into the matter of sexual harassment. Sharma said that along with other members, Prashant Bhushan was in the forefront of helping the woman draft an affidavit against the CJI. He was responsible for contacting the media about this case. According to ML Sharma, all those who helped the woman file complain operate an NGO which receives funds from the country as well as from abroad. He even claimed that it is trying to take over the Supreme Court by constantly plotting against the judiciary.
Utsav Bains, who filed the case accusing the CJI of sexually harassing a former SC employee, later said that he was bribed to help the woman file an affidavit against CJI Ranjan Gogoi. Through a Facebook post, Utsav Bains had claimed, “I was offered bribe to help frame CJI in the sexual harassment case by layering and organising a Press Conference against the CJI for the Ex-SC staffer who has accused the CJI of sexual harassment just a few days back and also specifically asked to organise a press conference only at the Press Club of India.” He also mentioned that requests were made for organizing a press conference, which points towards a conspiracy to sensationalize the issue. Utsav Bains is the lawyer who filed the affidavit of sexual violence against CJI on behalf of the ex-SC employee.
He further added, “When I refused the person who was initially praising my pro bono work in the Asaram Rape case for the victim etc and interestingly claimed to be her relative but on the other hand looked like a trained agent and he also couldn’t satisfactorily reply as to what was his relationship with the Ex SC Staffer and then suddenly offered me 50 lacs as my legal fees if I agreed to lawyer and again he asked me specifically to organise a press conference at the PCI after I refused as I found the story facts fishy and also he couldn’t reply to any question about the many loopholes in the story he narrated. When I again refused he said 1.5 Cr. I then asked him to leave my office.”
With all the information on the CJI case, it is not very difficult to figure out that the issue is a part of a larger conspiracy, which is going on to topple the judicial framework. While the case still remains a mystery for the country, the new revelations erupting from various sources indicate a big game being played against the Chief Justice of India. It is also important to bring out the truth behind the case in order to protect the independence of the judiciary.
It should be noted that ML Sharma is the same lawyer who was defended Nirbhaya’s rapists and made some bizarre remarks about the case and the victims of such crimes.
