Rahul Gandhi’s promise to an Adivasi woman finally fulfilled by PM Modi

Congress president Rahul Gandhi often indicts PM Modi of not fulfilling the promises he had made during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls campaign. In 2008, Rahul Gandhi had suddenly come in the limelight after he took a meal at an Adivasi woman’s hut. At that time, Rahul Gandhi had promised every kind of assistance to the Adivasi woman. He had also adopted two villages in Teekamgarh looking at the extent of poverty in the region.

However, the Adivasi woman at whose hut Rahul Gandhi had taken a meal and to whom he had also promised every kind of assistance, has been finally allotted a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Therefore, a promise made by Rahul Gandhi ten years ago has finally been fulfilled by PM Modi.

In 2008, Rahul Gandhi had visited two villages in order to understand the problems faced by the poor and the peasants. First, he visited Taprian village in Teekamgarh followed by Madhopur. In Taprian, he took a meal at Bhuan Bai’s residence and promised to be helpful in their struggle against poverty.

Rahul Gandhi has visited the Teekamgarh region once again in connection with the election campaign. This has refreshed the Gandhi scion’s visit in the minds of the residents of Taprian and Madhopur village. Over the last ten years, not much has changed in Taprian. Apart from a couple of houses which have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, nothing has changed over the last ten years. Bhuan Bai stated that Rahul Gandhi’s visit to her house did give her recognition, but that did not solve any of her problems.

As per the Adivasi woman, no one came to follow up on her position after Rahul Gandhi’s visit and promise to render every possible assistance in her struggle against poverty. As per Dashrath, a member of the Gram Panchayat of the village, Rahul Gandhi did adopt the village consisting of 1500 people but even the basic amenities like schooling, water and employment have not reached the village.

The Madhopur village also narrates a similar tale. Achhe Lal, who had met Rahul Gandhi ten years ago during his visit said that the Congress president had assured his family which was then grieving the death of their son. Rahul Gandhi had said that he cannot bring back their son, but he will work as a son to resolve all their issues. As it turns out, the Gandhi scion had made false promises to the villagers.

This report makes it clear that Congress uses the poor and the downtrodden only as a political prop with no real intention to uplift them. While Rahul Gandhi makes bizarre allegations of unfulfilled promises against PM Modi, he himself does not seem to have fulfilled any of the promises that he had made.
