The Election Commission has given clean chit to PM Modi in two more cases of poll code breach. PM Modi has been proved innocent in 5 such cases filed against him. One of the complaints was in relation to the PM’s speech in Varanasi on April 25th. Along with PM Modi, EC also approved the remarks made by Amit Shah on April 22nd at Krishna Nagar in West Bengal, where he said that Modi had sent his air force to Pakistan. He was also charged for the speech in Nagpur on 9th April where he mentioned that it was difficult to make out if Wayanad was in Pakistan or India.
EC, after proper investigation by the returning officers of Nanded and Varanasi, said that no violation of its advisories and provisions of Model Code of Conduct took place in both the speeches. On 25th April, PM Modi had said, “New India gave a befitting reply to Pakistan.” Congress had filed complaints to the Election Commission against the remarks alleging it to be a violation of the poll code. In this concern, the EC had asked a detailed report of transcripts of the speech from the Chief Electoral Officer responsible in Varanasi, which proved allegations of Congress baseless. A similar process of investigation also took place in Nanded.
Recently in the past, the Election Commission had given clean chit to the Prime Minister for his speech at Wardha, which the Congress alleged to be hateful and divisive. The Election Commission said that there was no model code violation through the speech delivered by PM Modi. Congress, which is outright in carrying out minority appeasement, blamed PM Modi for spreading hate through his speech.
Congress accused PM Modi of violating the Model Code of Conduct. In the Nanded speech, PM Modi had slammed Congress for running away from Amethi because of fear of the majority. PM Modi had said, “Rahul Gandhi has chosen a constituency where the majority is in minority.” Congress alleged that this statement was communal, however, the EC has given him a clean chit. The BJP has accused the Congress president of running away from his bastion for fear of losing to Smriti Irani.
Congress and other opposition parties have claimed that there is a total of 11 complaints against the Prime Minister on which the Election Commission will take decision. The opposition has said that PM Modi makes irresponsible comments and boastful statements. While it is true that Rahul Gandhi has finally found a safe haven in Wayanad, he is also scared of the tough competition that Smriti Irani will be giving him in his family bastion, Amethi. Congress doesn’t learn from its mistakes, despite the Election Commission quashing its claims against PM Modi, it is in its full force trying to taint the Prime Ministers image instead of focusing on its own agenda.
