The Election commission has given clean chit to the Prime Minister for his speech at Wardha, which the Congress alleged to be hateful and divisive. The Election Commission on Tuesday said that there was no model code violation through the speech delivered by PM Modi.
In Wardha speech, Narendra Modi had slammed the Congress President Rahul Gandhi for contesting from Wayanad and had ‘indicated’ that the Congress Party chose Wayanad to align the strategy with its agenda of minority appeasement. However, the poll panel said, “The matter has been examined in detail in accordance with provisions of Model Code of Conduct, RP Act and Maharashtra CEO’s report. Accordingly, EC is of the considered view that in this matter no such violation has been noticed.”
Congress had moved the EC against the speech at Wardha delivered by PM Modi, in which he had mentioned that the opposition was scared to field its leader in a constituency that is dominated by the majority. The statement made is factually true, looking at the series of actions taken up by Rahul Gandhi while he was filing the nomination for Wayanad constituency. He also created a Twitter account in order to reach out to the people in this constituency of Kerala. In Amethi, on the other hand, he filed his nomination at the last moment and no preparations were done to help people reach to the Congress President.
The Congress Party stalwarts Ahmed Patel, Jairam Ramesh, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Randeep Surjewala had made five representations to the EC. All these efforts went in vain as the EC has finally given a clean chit to PM Modi and said that no violation of Model Code of Conduct took place. The Congress party had claimed that the speech was extremely hateful and divisive.
Congress, which is outright in carrying out minority appeasement, blamed the PM for spreading hate through his speech. Singhvi told EC, “The Prime Minister through his speech tried to spread hate for electoral gains which is serious violation of the Representation of People Act.” Congress has disappointed the majority through their propaganda and speeches. They are indeed scared of facing the majority and hence chose Wayanad for their boss.
The Election Commission sought report from the authorities in Maharashtra about the speech after Congress complained. The factual report was submitted after which the investigation into the matter proved that PM Modi had in no way violated the code. This time as well, Congress failed to frame PM Modi and rather proved its inefficiency to win the elections without creating controversies.
