The Congress and people in the liberal ecosystem have been trying to corner PM Modi on the issue of his remarks about former PM Rajiv Gandhi. While the Congress president consistently makes unsavory remarks about PM Modi on the basis of unsubstantiated and baseless allegations, the grand old party objected to PM Modi’s remarks about Rajiv Gandhi. The Congress president, Rahul Gandhi also tried cornering PM Modi over this issue and stated, “Narendra Modi insulted a martyr (Rajiv Gandhi), no matter how much hatred he has for my family, I only have love for him.”
The left-liberal cabal has continued with its campaign against PM Modi over this issue despite the Election Commission concluding that Prime Minister Modi did not violate the Model Code of Conduct when he made the ‘Bhrashtachari no. 1’ remark against Rajiv Gandhi.
In something that can be termed as a major setback for Congress party, teachers from Delhi University (DU) and other universities of Delhi have started a counter-campaign against Rahul Gandhi and his party, reaffirming their support for PM Modi and his statements about Rajiv Gandhi.
121 teachers have given their signatures to a letter criticizing the Grand Old Party for referring to the PM of India in the worst possible language on a regular basis. Moreover, these teachers have praised Modi government for making people aware of the wrongs during the term of Rajiv Gandhi and the corruption in defence deals during his regime.
The following is an excerpt from the letter:
“The fact that Rajiv Gandhi was awarded a Bharat Ratna- Jawaharlal Nehru and all his PM progenies had been so awarded- cannot prevent future analysts to critique his contribution to organised corruption and Congress supported genocide of Sikhs in 1984. ‘Bofors deal’ became a symbol of official corruption; it initiated a trend which had consistently been followed by Congress-led governments. Scandals like 2G, Coalgate, CWG, and now Scorpene Submarine scandal directly involving Rahul Gandhi are all the natural corollaries of Bofors tradition. The subsequent remote controlled Manmohan Singh UPA government even defroze the accounts of Gandhi’s family friend swindler Ottavio Quattrocchi. Rajiv Gandhi as PM was responsible for letting Warren Anderson Chairman of Union Carbide escape justice in the Bhopal Tragedy episode. His company was responsible for the death of thousands of poor Bhopal residents- most died instantaneously and thousands later owing cancer and other diseases caused by poisonous gas leaks.”

It was recently reported that 200 Delhi University (DU) teachers issued a public statement condemning PM Modi for making “derogatory and untrue” remarks about Rajiv Gandhi. The statement read, “Narendra Modi has lowered the dignity of the office of the prime minister by making derogatory and untrue remarks about the late Rajiv ji, who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.” As such the tenor of the statement seems to be of a highly political nature. In any democratic set up, no one is immune from criticism. But the way the cabal has reacted to PM Modi’s remarks about Rajiv Gandhi shows that the cabal hasn’t really been able to tolerate how someone from the Nehru-Gandhi family was criticized by the current Prime Minister.
Sam Pitroda, who is seen as close to the Nehru-Gandhi family, tweeted the statement on his handle. He also stated, “Statement by over 200 Delhi University Teachers condemning Narendra Modi for his remarks on the late Rajiv Gandhi with actual signatures… Sharing some of them here.” The Congress had clearly positioned itself to launch a tirade against PM Modi based on the public statement issued by the DU teachers.

However, the Grand Old Party now faces an embarrassing situation even as two of the professors mentioned in the letter have absolutely denied having signed any statement. Times Now reported, Cong’s Sam Pitroda (@Sampitroda) tweets letter claiming it has been signed by 200 Delhi University professors, protesting over comment made by PM Modi on Rajiv Gandhi. The letter signed by 121 teachers in support of PM Modi and his statement adds insult to injury for the Congress.

This clearly shows that the left-liberal cabal is too keen to corner PM Modi, forged signatures may be a part of these desperate attempts to ambush him. The letter in support of the PM, does away with the fake narrative that the Congress is trying to set and clearly shows that people at large agree with what PM Modi had to say about Rajiv Gandhi and his tenure.
