Congress leader Hardik Patel was slapped during his rally while addressing the public in Gujarat. Patel was addressing the “Jan Akrosh“ rally when a man went up to the stage and slapped the politician. The Congress leader lost his cool after the act and people on the stage had to restrain him from attacking the accused.

Tarun Gajjar, the man who slapped Hardik Patel explained that the action was not politically inspired.
Gajjar, who was caught by the crowd after slapping the politician, explained his reasons to ANI. He said that during the 2015 Patidar agitation his family had to go through tough times. He said, “My wife was pregnant when Patidar agitation happened, she was undergoing treatment at a hospital, I had faced problems then, I had decided then, I’ll hit this man. I have to teach him a lesson anyhow.”

Tarun Gajjjar expressed his anger over the fact that Hardik Patel acts like “Gujrat’s Hitler” when he hosts a rally. The rage shown by Gajjar was because of the hardship that the individual and his family had to go through when the rallies were hosted by the Congress leaders during the Patidar agitation. He further mentioned that another time when he hosted a rally in Ahmadabad, the medicine shops were shut down. During the rally, his child was to be assisted with medicines but because of the shutdown, medicines weren’t available. He mentioned that each time a rally is conducted by Hardik Patel everything is inaccessible, as shops are closed.

Tarun Gajjar expressed his annoyance with the whimsical act of Hardik Patel of shutting down Gujrat “when he wants to” He also said that Hardik thought himself as “Gujrat’s Hitler”
On the incident, Hardik Patel has accused BJP, saying that the party is scared of him and is trying to kill him. However, it is clear that the actions by Tarun Gajjar are not politically inspired. The accused slapped Hardik Patel for the personal hardship he went through, during the rallies conducted by the Congress Politician in 2015. The motives behind the act by Gajjar have nothing to do with BJP, though Hardik Patel claims that it was BJP who wanted to harm him. It is evident that two events in Gajjar’s life are what made him hit the Congress leader. It was the struggle that the individual faced because of Hardik Patel led agitation. It brings out the fact that leaders like Hardik Patel use their political stature to obstruct the daily life of commoners. Recently, the court has rejected Hardik’s application to vacate the judgment in case of rioting as his conviction has not been overturned. Patel will not be able to contest 2019, Lok Sabha elections.
