In another shock to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sent a notice to Congress president Rahul Gandhi. The MHA sent the notice following a complaint filed by senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy regarding Rahul’s citizenship. In a letter dated 29th April Rahul Gandhi has been asked to intimate the factual position in the matter of claims made by Subramanian Swamy, within a fortnight to Subramanian Swamy.
Taking note of the representation from Dr. Subramanian Swamy, MHA in the letter to Rahul Gandhi has brought several points on which Rahul needs to come out clean. “Your date of Birth has been given 19/06/1970 and that you had declared your Nationality as British. Further, in the Dissolution application dated 17/02/2009 of the above referred company, your nationality has been mentioned a British.”
The letter further added, “You are requested to intimate the factual position in the matter to this ministry within a fortnight of the receipt of this communication.”

In 2004 contesting the elections from Amethi in the general elections, Rahul Gandhi had declared, as assets, the shares he held in Backops Limited. According to Rahul Gandhi’s affidavit (April 3, 2004), he held 83% stake in the UK registered entity.
The UK based company came into existence on 21 August 2003 and was dissolved around 2009. And records mention Rahul Gandhi as the Director and Company Secretary.
Further, the details of the director show Rahul Gandhi‘s Nationality as British with Director ID 909187828.
Accusing the Congress vice president of declaring himself a British citizen to float a company in the UK, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that Rahul Gandhi should be stripped of Indian citizenship as well as his parliamentary membership.
Previously, in a press conference on this issue, BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao had said, “I think it’s a matter of great surprise that the objections that have been raised regarding Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship haven’t been answered. Rahul Gandhi’s name has been shown to be listed as a British citizen in documents related to a company in the UK. Was Rahul Gandhi a British citizen?”
Recently reports alleging Rahul Gandhi using the name “Raul Vinci” in his educational documents had also emerged. This complaint just adds to the problems of Congress chief, who has already been entangled in various serious cases for which proceedings are in process in the judicial courts.
