Modi effect is not limited to India, it has started influencing Pakistan also. The Imran Khan government has recently agreed that BJP is a better choice to form the government in the centre for India. The Pakistani Prime Minister said that any other party (indicating to Congress) would be ‘too weak’ to hold peace talks with Pakistan. He made a statement that came out in full support of the Modi led government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Pak PM said, “Perhaps if the BJP – a right-wing party – wins, some kind of settlement in Kashmir could be reached.” The statement was released right after the BJP manifesto was brought out by the party. This is a clear indication that the Pakistan PM also supports the BJP government and its effort in improving condition in the valley. This might also state that the removal of debated Article 370 is accepted by the Pak PM. The BJP, through its manifesto, has pledged to strip off the decades old temporary provisions which gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir, to form a more integrated and united India. Islamabad has shown an incline to this proposal with Imran Khan hoping for another term of BJP.
This also tells us that Imran Khan might be ready to give away the occupied part of Kashmir to its rightful union – India. The Pakistani PM, few days ago, blamed his Indian counterpart for introducing the repealing of the article as an election gimmick. He had tweeted “When ldrs in Israel & India show a moral bankruptcy in their readiness to annex occupied West Bank & IOK in defiance of int law, UNSC resolutions & their own Constitution for votes, don’t their ppl feel a sense of outrage & wonder how far they will go simply to win an election?” The PTI leader had opposed the removal of Article 370, without having any right or stake over the decision.

Imran Khan, however, seems to differ now from his own stance. The change in line and tone of the Pak leader came after the release of the manifesto by the BJP party. The manifesto clearly reads that the Kashmir issues will be solved. The articles 35 A and 370 are an obstruction in the development of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire country. The BJP, despite being mocked by the opposition, is determined to remove Article 370 from the Indian Constitution.
Prime Minister of Pakistan said that other parties would not have taken measures for peace talks. He said that, they would fear backlash and dismiss opportunities to settle on Kashmir issue. As the BJP government proposes the scraping off of the Article 370, it is a major step that the party will take to settle the Kashmir dispute. The Pakistan Prime Minister is in the process of working things out to settle the Kashmir issue and establish peace with help of PM Narendra Modi.
The ties between India and Pakistan worsened after the Pulwama attack and Balakot strike. However, the Prime Minister of Pakistan supporting a second term for the BJP government is a testimony to the constructive policy implementation by the Modi government. It is this Modi effect that even the neighbors couldn’t, for long, stay away from.
