BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana has filed a complaint against Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the Tis Hazari Court. He has alleged that Sunita Kejriwal has two voter IDs. The BJP leader has claimed that Sunita Kejriwal has voter ids from Sahibabad and Civil Lines in her possession.

The complaint alleged, “In complete disregard to the electoral processes and norms and in order to wrongfully give advantage to Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), in which her husband is the national convener, the accused is deliberately and intentionally maintaining her name in the electoral roll at two different places.”  The BJP leader has asked the Delhi police to investigate the offence under sections 17 and 31 of the Representation of People Act of 1950, beside other sections. According to the section 17 of the RPA, no person is entitled to be enrolled as a voter in more than one constituency and its violation is a criminal offence which is punishable with a maximum of a one year imprisonment.

This development comes after AAP had also alleged that BJP candidate from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir possessed two voter ID cards. Earlier Khurana had tweeted asking Arvind Kejriwal about his wife having three voter ids. He tweeted “Can u pls explain @ArvindKejriwal ji why ur wife Sunita Kejriwal is having 3 voter ids with her? 1 from Delhi, 1 from UP and 1 from Bengal. Before pointing finger on other first u should come clean”

Khurana, had also raised this question for Arvind Kejriwal having multiple voter IDs in the Delhi Assembly elections. AAP candidates have accused their BJP rivals of having multiple voter ids but failed to do a recheck of members and associates of their own party.

AAP candidate Atishi, who is standing against Gautam Gambhir from East Delhi, had claimed that Gambhir had two voter IDs. The AAP candidate further tried to reap electoral steam from this controversy and appealed to voters not to vote for Gambhir. She said that voters should not waste their vote by voting for Gambhir as he will eventually be disqualified. The AAP candidate will now have to rethink her statement after the AAP convener’s wife has been accused of carrying multiple voter ids.

AAP, which is struggling to retain its seats in Delhi, will have many questions to answer once the complaint is heard by the court. BJP has already proven its metal in Delhi and in Lok Sabha 2019 and it is ready to root out the Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP has used its best candidates against the opposition and they are sure to secure their respective seats. While AAP has to solve their mysteries of multiple voter IDs, BJP is all set for the big show in Delhi on 12th of May.
