After serving a 72-hour ban, UP CM Yogi Adityanath attacked SP leader Azam Khan over his “underwear” remark against BJP candidate from Rampur, Jaya Prada.
While addressing an election rally at Hardoi, Yogi Adityanath said, “Our government has constituted anti-Romeo squad for persons like Azam. A ‘jeev’ (human being) of SP lives in Rampur… What kind of language he used for Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar… Today Mayawati ji is seeking votes for those who had disrespected Baba saheb… What kind of language he uses against mothers and daughters?”
Yogi Adityanath had formed an Anti-Romeo squad in a bid to bring down rampant molestation in UP. Though criticized by left liberals for obvious reasons, the scheme was a significant success. In the current context, Yogi targeted SP bigwig Azam Khan, who had insulted Jaya Prada in an address at Rampur. He had said, “Citizens of Rampur, and citizens of Hindustan, it took you 17 years to understand her (Jaya), but it took me only 17 days to understand that her u*******r is of Khaki color (in a lowlife jibe at RSS uniforms)”
Yogi did not just stop at that. He also challenged the SP–BSP ‘Mahagathbandhan’ as well as the Congress party to open their account in UP during the first two phases. He further said, “The BJP has got maximum votes in the first two phases of polling on 16 seats and the Congress and the SP-BSP have been reduced to zero seats.”
While Yogi Adityanath has been under the radar for his unapologetic statements, his reference to the Anti-Romeo squad being made for people like Azam Khan is a direct attack at the Samajwadi Party, who are well known for having insulted the womenfolk. His current jibes against Jaya Prada aside, Azam Khan has been well known for having labeled the Bulandshahr rape case as a political conspiracy against the then government.
However, the party in question is SP, whose patron, Mulayam Singh Yadav is well known for making notorious statements like ‘Boys are boys; they will make mistakes’ in a cavalier reference to Shakti Mills rape case. Besides, given how the party top brass is shielding Azam for his horrible remarks, it is unlikely that they shall improve anytime soon. By openly exposing them, Yogi Adityanath has set an impressive precedent, and we hope that the masses reward him with huge votes.
