In a shocking development, the Rahul Gandhi led Congress has shamelessly rewarded Pakistan sympathiser, Sam Pitroda. He is set to lead the Congress’ campaign monitoring committee. The team will monitor the publicity and campaigns of the Congress during the upcoming parliamentary polls and will also be giving inputs to Congress leaders. It is clear that the Congress has given a major role to Sam Pitroda in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.
The Congress has taken this preposterous decision, days after Sam Pitroda insulted the Pulwama martyrs and the sentiments of the nation following heightened Indo-Pak tensions. Chairman of the Overseas Indian National Congress, Sam Pitroda had given a shocking statement. He had said, “Don’t know much about attacks. It happens all the time. The attack happened in Mumbai also, we could have then reacted and just sent our planes but that is not right approach. According to me that’s not how you deal with world.”
He went further while exonerating Pakistan and said, “Eight people (26/11 terrorists) come and do something, you don’t jump on entire nation (Pakistan). Naive to assume that just because some people came here and attacked, every citizen of that nation is to be blamed. I don’t believe in that way.” It must be noted that Pakistan faced and continues to face severe criticism post the Pulwama terror attack. The terrorist country has come under fire for actively pursuing the policy of fomenting terrorism against India.
However, Sam Pitroda unabashedly tried washing off Pakistan’s responsibility and blame India instead. However, he did not stop here; he also tried casting a shadow of doubt about the Balakot airstrikes which had been successfully executed by the Indian Air Force (IAF). Questioning the success of the airstrikes, Pitroda had said, “I would like to know a little more because I read reports in the New York Times and other newspapers. Did we really attack? We really killed 300 people? I don’t know that. As a citizen, I am entitled to know and if I ask it is my duty to ask, that doesn’t mean I’m not a nationalist, that doesn’t mean I am on this side or that side. We need to know the facts. If you say 300 people were killed, I need to know that.”
PM Modi had severely criticised the condemnable statements given by Sam Pitroda. He took to Twitter and said, “The most trusted advisor and guide of the Congress President has kick-started the Pakistan National Day celebrations on behalf of the Congress, ironically by demeaning India’s armed forces. Shame!”

Sam Pitroda clearly belittled the grave issue of terrorism. Till now, some opposition leaders had stooped to the extent of claiming that Pulwama terror attack was plotted by India and that the Balakot airstrikes were unsuccessful. However, Pitroda has further raised the bar of political mud-slinging by defending the UPA policy of going weak against terrorism and criticising the Modi government for attacking terrorists. It is shameful how he defended the policy of inaction against terrorism post the 26/11 terror attacks. His statement is indescribably bizarre and insensitive. The fact that the grand old party has given him such an important role speaks volumes of the party’s toxic ideology. If the Congress thinks that it can bring such insensitive personalities at the forefront and then get away with it, then the Rahul Gandhi led party has obviously become delusional. The party has clearly lost the plot and has now positioned itself for a major electoral embarrassment days before the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
