The opposition leaders, especially those belonging to a particular party who had recently promised to stand firmly with the government cannot really stop making irresponsible comments in connection with heightened Indo-Pak tensions. Post the Balakot airstrikes, the entire nation has been euphoric about how the government and the armed forces have made it a point to strike hard at Pakistan-based terrorist outfits. However, the opposition has politicised even this sensitive issue. Congress leaders like Navjot Singh Sidhu and Digvijaya Singh have shamelessly politicised the Balakot airstrikes. While Digvijaya asked for the proof of the success of airstrikes carried out by the IAF, Navjot Singh Sidhu went a step further in politicising the grave issue and suggested that the airstrikes were unsuccessful and a mere election gimmick.
Now, another Congress leader, Kapil Sibal has clearly made an attempt at politicising India’s fight against terror. He tweeted, “Modiji : Is international media :

Ever since India struck deep and hard into Pakistani territory destroying the terror camps that Pakistan has been shamelessly harbouring, Pakistan went into a propaganda overdrive. The terrorist country’s propaganda machinery has almost waged an information war. By spreading false stories Pakistan is trying to disillusion the entire world about the Indo-Pak tensions. One must not forget that Pakistan has been internationally isolated and exposed and therefore, it has been trying to spread all possible falsehoods in order to win the perception war with India. The irresponsible remarks that the Congress leaders have been giving only gives Pakistan the fodder that it desperately needs in order to save its face.
Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Rathore therefore, took a dig at Kapil Sibal for his irresponsible remark. Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted, “Kapil Sibal ji:

Rajyavardhan Rathore taking jibe at the Congress leader exposes the grand old party’s opportunistic brand of politics. The way Congress has eagerly tried casting a shadow of doubt about the success of IAF operations goes on to show that political interests are more important than national interest and security for the Congress. All opposition parties, including the Congress, have the freedom of targeting the government on every possible issue under the sun but for reasons best known to them, they want to target the government only on this issue without realising the negative impact it makes on the national interest and the morale of the armed forces. If the opposition doesn’t stop making such irresponsible remarks then it must brace itself for being swept by the BJP when the country goes to polls later this year.
