The security forces are cracking down on terrorism in the valley in an unprecedented manner. In yet another success for the armed forces, it has been reported that the Pulwama terror attack mastermind, Mudasir Ahmed Khan is believed to have been killed yesterday in an encounter in the Pinglish area of Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir. The fierce encounter lasted past midnight. The security forces killed three terrorists including the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) operative, Mudasir Ahmed Khan.
As per officials, the bodies of the three terrorists were charred beyond recognition and efforts are on to establish their identity. The encounter had ensued after the terrorists opened fire on a search party. The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation upon receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in the area.
Mudasir Khan is believed to be the mastermind of the dastardly Pulwama terror attack in which more than 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred. According to the evidence gathered, the security officials stated that Khan had arranged the logistics for the attack. He had arranged the vehicles and the explosives which were used in the terror attack. The 23-year old terrorist, an electrician by profession with a graduate degree, was a resident of Pulwama.
He had joined the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) sometime in 2017 as an overground worker. Later on, he was drawn into the terror group by Noor Mohammed Tantrey, alias ‘Noor Trali’. Tantray, who is believed to have helped in revival of the terrorist outfit in the valley was killed in December 2017. Thereafter, Mudasir Ahmed Khan had disappeared from his home and has been active since then.
Mudasir Ahmed Khan is also believed to have been involved in the terrorist attack at the army camp in Sunjawan in February last year. Therefore, he was a major target for the armed forces and the report of armed forces having succeeded in eliminating him is therefore welcome news. This is a major victory over terror for the security forces. Another Jaish e Mohammed operative, Sajjad Bhat who had bought the car that had been used in the terror attack only ten days before the attack is also believed to have been killed. This means that the security forces have been able to take revenge for the cowardly terror attack. This yet again corroborates that those who take up arms against the country and the armed forces sign their death warrants the day they do so.
