Contrary to media’s insinuation, Bajrang Sonkar is not affiliated to RSS

RSS, Kashmiri dry fruit seller

(PC: Hindustan Times)

In a stray incident yesterday, some local goons assaulted a Kashmiri dry fruit seller in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The mainstream media as always tried blaming the RSS, BJP and the Modi government for this incident. RSS and the Modi government were painted as villains even before the identity of the assailant’s identity came to light. However, as per SSP Lucknow’s briefing, one of the goons has been identified as Bajrang Sonkar. As per him, he belongs to a local trust by the name of Vishwa Hindu Dal. The police official made it clear that while the said accused has been arrested and a case has been registered, the rest of the accused will also be arrested soon.

In fact, if we go by a Facebook post of the accused, it seems that he is actually a RSS hater. In the post shown below, he is clearly trying to spread fake news and disinformation about the RSS. This is in complete contrast to the version given by the mainstream media, which suggests that he belongs to the RSS or is in some way connected to it.

The arrested accused is also a known criminal. Till 2011, 12 cases have been registered against him. The police are trying to trace the rest of cases against him registered after 2011. It seems that he is a local goon several cases have already been registered against him including some cases for certain serious and heinous crimes. As such there is nothing to suggest that any organisation except the local trust of which he is believed to be a member was involved in this assault on the Kashmiri dry fruit seller.

It is clear that the Vishwa Hindu Dal is a local trust which carried out the attack on the Kashmiri dry fruit seller. There is nothing to suggest that the Vishwa Hindu Dal is in anyway related to the RSS or the current dispensation. In fact, those who are trying to suggest that the Vishwa Hindu Dal functionary who carried out this attack is related to the RSS have no evidence to corroborate this baseless allegation. All attempts to suggest that the arrested accused is an RSS worker seem to be trying to politicise the incident.

RSS has been targeted in an uniformed way in the past as well. Last year too, an incident on similar lines had taken place, wherein RSS was falsely being brought into the case. A facebook page named Bhim Sena shared a video from their page wherein it had shown that RSS people in Tamil Nadu were beating 2 dalits while the police were being a mere spectators to it.

While investigating the video it was found that, the clipping was actually of Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district where the police were beating the criminals, in the aftermath of which they were made to roam on the road in front of people.
