Yasin Malik-led JKLF banned by Modi govt

JKLF, banned, Yasin Malik

In a welcome move by the Modi government, the separatist outfit Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), which is one of the main reasons behind the turmoil in Kashmir Valley for the past three decades, and currently led by notorious secessionist Yasin Malik has been officially banned under the anti-terror law.

According to reports, the organization has been banned under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The decision was taken unanimously by the Cabinet Committee on Security, led by PM Narendra Modi himself.

A press statement released by the Ministry of Home Affairs said, “Central Government in its pursuit of strong action against terrorism, has today declared JKLF (Yasin faction) as an unlawful association under the provisions of Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The Central Government has followed the policy of ‘Zero Tolerance’ against terrorism and has acted strongly against terrorists. Securities Forces have been given free hand to deal with terrorism.”

This is the second major crackdown on the terror-sponsoring bodies by the Central Government in the wake of the dastardly Pulwama attacks. Earlier, notorious NGO Jamaat-e-Islami, accused of sponsoring terrorist attacks and stone pelting incidents in Jammu & Kashmir, was banned outright by the Modi government days before the air strikes took fitting retribution for the Pulwama attacks.

The ministry further added, “This organization, alongside, is also responsible for illegal funneling of funds for fomenting terrorism. JKLF is actively involved in raising the funds and its distribution to Hurriyat cadres and stone-pelters to fuel unrest in the Kashmir valley as well as for subversive activities. Activities of JKLF (Y) pose a serious threat to the security of the country and are prejudicial to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of India.”

For those unaware, Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) is a separatist terror outfit that has made the beautiful Kashmir Valley into a living hell. Following the execution of their leader, Maqbool Bhat in the 1980s, the JKLF terrorists, led by Yasin Malik, unleashed mayhem, and by 1990, one of the worst cases of ethnic cleansing since the dreaded Holocaust had begun in Kashmir Valley. Lakhs of Kashmiri Hindus and Sikhs were maimed, killed, abducted, raped and forced to evict their homes.

Yasin Malik, one of the chief brains behind this Holocaust, was also involved in the ghastly murder of IAF officers in Srinagar, as well as the kidnapping of Rubaiyya Sayyed, daughter of the then Home Minister and former J&K CM Mufti Muhammad Sayyed. Ever since the Pulwama attacks have occurred, the government has cracked down on terror. Yasin Malik is presently under police custody and going by the current turn of events, things aren’t looking bright for him.
