During the tenure of Modi government, the Indian Railways has been able to raise the bar beyond expectations as far as convenience and comfort in rail travel is concerned. Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal has made it a point to ensure that government is committed towards high standards of safety and comfort during rail travel. The Railways under Piyush Goyal has not only focussed on providing better facilities and infrastructure in order to ensure better rail travel but has also acted as a responsible institution which takes cognizance of the concerns of the travellers and addresses them immediately.
In yet another example of Indian Railways’ responsive and efficient attitude, the Railways addressed the concern of a passenger in an amazingly efficient and time bound manner. This incident took place even as the brother of a young woman travelling in 22415 Superfast AC Andhra Pradesh Express tweeted for help. He tagged Piyush Goyal on twitter. The woman passenger was travelling in the train from Bhopal to Delhi. 5-6 passengers in an inebriated state started harassing the young woman. The GRP came to rescue shortly after the brother of the passenger tweeted for help.
In his tweet, the passenger’s brother stated that he needed help for his sister travelling in train number 22415, as six people were drinking on her berth and also misbehaving with her. He also shared the PNR number of the aggrieved passenger. SP GRP Agra took cognisance of the issue and assured the brother of the woman passenger that appropriate instructions had been given to GRP Agra Cantt. The authorities also took the inebriated men into custody.
This is not for the first time that Railways have shown such efficiency and responsiveness. Last year in another instance of the helpful gesture of the ministry, the Railway police successfully found a missing mother. The news came from Kerala where a resident of Thrissur, Padma, had gone missing. Padma’s son Anurag filed a missing report in Railway Police Station Thrissur. Padma, 74 went missing when she was travelling from Korba to Thrissur on train no: 22647. The lady hails from Manalur Village, Kanjali Thrissur, Kerala. Speaking to Rightlog, Anurag had said, “My Mother is safe and we are grateful for the prompt action of the ministry.”
Under Piyush Goyal’s inspiring leadership, the Indian Railways have been raising the bar for its own performance constantly. It has been transformed for its institution which goes beyond expectations in order to ensure a safe and fulfilling journey for the passengers.
