Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kanyakumari on March 1 and inaugurated Rs. 40,000 crores worth development projects in Tamil Nadu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced highway projects worth Rs. 2,995 crores in Kanyakumari. He also launched the fastest train service, Tejas express between Madurai and Chennai.
It has become a habit for DMK and its supporters to trend GoBackModi on Twitter whenever PM Modi visits. So far only political motives were seen behind this trending in-spite Modi inaugurating many development projects for Tamil Nadu. But on March 1, the GoBackModi trending seemed to be more suspicious as the major participation was from a foreign nation.
Abhijit Majumbder, Editor of MyNation tweeted and said “Checked out #GoBackModi trend. Nice India-Pakistan joint venture. A desperate ISI has allied with its Indian puppets here.”

Twitteratis found this suspicious behavior in the trending and changed the trend location to Pakistan and checked. Surprisingly their suspect was correct. GoBackModi hashtag was trending in Pakistan.

Twitterati Ranganathan analyzed this further and found out a very shocking data. He tweeted, “Was curious about who took part in trending GoBackModi, surprisingly it was Pakistani handles which enhanced the hashtag. 58% Tweets came from Pakistan, 22% from India and just 4% from Chennai.
What does this show? That TN folks have handlers in Pakistan? Some help me decipher”

He went analyzing and mentioned, “Except the hashtag tweets are in Urdu. Interestingly 23% of tweets were in Urdu after English at 62% and Tamizh at just 2%. TN is actually with Narendra Modi but Congress with Pakistan support is setting up agenda on twitter.”

While the Pakistan centric GoBackModi trending was happening, Pakistani media carried this story to set the narrative against India’s defence operations. Lahore based, The Daily Times reported, “Tamil Nadu was said to be the biggest vote bank for BJP, but after the surgical strikes and Modi’s response towards the border tensions, people of Tamil Nadu have shown their backs to BJP and didn’t welcome the party in Tamil Nadu. The twitter trends show much about the backlash for Modi.” Another Pakistan media, The International News reported, “’Nobel Peace Prize for Imran Khan’ becomes top Twitter trend in Pakistan, ‘Go Back Modi’ in India“.

Clearly, Pakistani media used this trending to set their narrative to the world while the DMK & the Congress cadres in Tamil Nadu kept tweeting on GoBackModi hashtag. As Abhijit suspects the involvement of ISI in the trending, a Twitterati also requested the investigation of NIA in this.
