Yesterday, Bihar Congress leader and party spokesperson Vinod Sharma resigned from the party, claiming that he was in a state of unrest by the way his party asked for the proof of IAF’s Balakot airstrike. He also added that people have started seeing Congress as an agent of Pakistan.
Speaking to ANI on his resignation, Sharma said, “I am resigning from all the posts and the Congress’ primary membership. I am disappointed over the Congress’ demand for proof of IAF air strike at JeM terror camp in Pakistan. I am unhappy with this stand of the party.”

The resignation of the Bihar Congress leader comes amidst senior party leaders undermining the armed forces. Many of the Congress leaders’ statements have been used by Pakistani media to undermine India. A few days ago, Digvijaya Singh had praised Pakistan PM Imran Khan for releasing Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman and he also said that the incumbent government should provide evidence of the airstrikes in Balakot, in Pakistan. Another, Congress leader Salman Khurshid rushed to give credit to UPA government for Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s bravery.

Rahul Gandhi and his party colleagues have been indulging in various acts of absurdity. In fact, it is rare to see any kind of maturity and statesmanship from the leaders of the grand old party. Various Pakistani media channels and diplomats targeted India, citing the statements and tweets of leaders of opposition parties. Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tweeted a speech by Congress spokesperson, Manish Tewari in order to target PM Modi and spread anti-India propaganda on the issue of Kashmir.

Not just Manish Tewari, other Congress leaders including Kapil Sibal and Navjot Singh Sidhu too, raised doubts and questioned the IAF airstrikes. Navjot Singh Sidhu not only politicised the issue but went a step further and suggested that the airstrikes were unsuccessful and a mere election gimmick. Kapil Sibal was not far behind. He clearly made an attempt at politicising India’s fight against terror.
What the opposition parties seem to be missing is that the hatred the for the nation is confined to a handful of ‘elites’ in urban India while most of India is overwhelmingly patriotic, the nationalistic fervor only intensified after the atrocious attack in Pulwama, which took the lives of more than 40 CRPF personnel. Pakistan remains an extremely emotive issue for India and opposition by toeing Pakistan’s line is digging a grave so deep that it can stay inside it for 10 years easily.
Coming back to the latest resignation of Bihar Congress spokesperson, on the issue of politicization of air-strikes, Vinod Sharma urged, “We should not politicise the air strike. As Rahul Gandhi said, for the national security, we should support each and every action of our armed forces. We should stand united in these situations.”
It is absolutely shameful that at a time when Congress should stand firmly with India, it is making unnecessary political remarks and providing fodder to Pakistan. It only displays the opportunistic and irresponsible character of the Congress party.
