In a surprising but not entirely unexpected move, Bigg Boss fame socialite Arshi Khan has officially joined the Congress. She was formally inducted into the party in a private event at Mumbai. According to some reports, she may be offered a plum post in the Mumbai Congress as well.
To quote her, “Yes I am joining Congress, they have offered me a post and that is the reason I said yes. Also, the party needs youth people who are outspoken.” She had taken this decision soon after her friend and controversial actress Shilpa Shinde joined the Congress a couple of months ago.
For those unaware, Arshi Khan is a Bhopal based model who had entered Bigg Boss season 11 as a contestant. She gained notoriety for her bizarre claims, especially the one where she claimed that Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi was her boyfriend. Some leaked photos from her photo shoots exposed her love for Pakistan in a rather vulgar way, when she had deliberately painted or stuck photos of Pakistani flags on her private parts.

However, what is even more interesting is that Arshi Khan is the same model, whose publicist, Flynn Remedios, supervises a web portal called IndiaScoops.com. This is the same IndiaScoops, whose articles on the Rafale deal were used by the Congress to claim that PM Modi and his government was involved in corrupt transactions. However, some quick research exposed the façade within hours, since IndiaScoops was previously known as ‘Arshi Khan Fan Club’. Is Congress party this desperate for power?
However, we’re forgetting that it is the same Congress party, whose standard for inducting new members has increased on a rather amusing note. BJP has surprised one and all by inducting celebrities like actress Jaya Prada, cricketer Gautam Gambhir, ex army officer cum sportsman Major [Dr.] Surendra Poonia [Retd.] and Paralympics 2016 silver medalist Deepa Malik to name a few.
On the other hand, barring the exception of actress Urmila Matondkar, Congress has recently included people with controversial backgrounds like Hardik Patel, Shilpa Shinde, Shatrughan Sinha, Hasin Jahan [ex wife of cricketer Mohammad Shami] and now Arshi Khan. Congress has seriously raised the bar of their politics with such legendary admissions. We hope that the masses don’t fall for such cheap gimmicks and give their vote to deserving candidates.
