When they entered the political arena, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), founded by ex IRS officer Arvind Kejriwal claimed that his was a party with a difference. Going by the recent turn of events, his party members have proven his claim correct, with their reprehensible deeds as seen in some shocking tweets.
Recently, a woman filed an FIR against the incumbent AAP MLA from the Rithala constituency, Mohinder Goyal, accusing him of raping her two years ago and subjecting her to continuous mental harassment. An FIR had been registered against him and the investigations are underway.
Whether Mr. Goyal is guilty or not, is something only time will tell, but this is another notorious addition to AAP’s horrible track record in terms of treating women improperly. Rather, AAP has done everything to further trivialise the suffering of women instead of eliminating it.
It all began in 2015. It had been only months since AAP rode back to power with a thumping majority in the assembly elections. An AAP student volunteer was allegedly harassed by a biker, following which she uploaded his picture on social media.
AAP encashed on the controversy generated and boasted about their commitment to women empowerment by initiating police complaints against the molester. It later turned out that the situation was exactly the reverse, and the real victim, Sarvjeet Singh, is unfortunately running from pillar to post in order to prove his innocence.
Keeping the controversy aside, AAP has been consistently horrible when it comes to dealing with crimes against women. Who could forget the unfortunate suicide of an AAP worker, who took this step because all our beloved CM could do was suggest a ‘compromise’ with her molester, apparently a big shot within the party. We haven’t forgotten the legendary ration card scandal, have we?
Popular right wing columnist cum Twitter user Rishi Bagree posted a long thread exposing the dirty secrets of AAP in this regard, as shown below:-

These are just a few examples. When even the ex law minister of Kejriwal’s cabinet was booked for indulging in domestic violence and harassing African women in the name of a raid (our beloved CM Kejriwal had sat on a dharna to exonerate him), we can’t expect the party to come out clean in terms of these alleged crimes against women. Honestly speaking, nobody is whisker clean in the arena of politics, but AAP has set a new benchmark in terms of stooping low to any extent in order to make petty electoral gains.
