In a bid to avenge the atrocious Pulwama attack, the Indian Air Force bombarded a major terrorist camp across the LoC and completely destroyed it with explosives of about 1,000 kg. According to ANI, the attack took place at 3:30 am, when 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets crossed the LoC and destroyed the one of the primitive terror training camps of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

According to an unconfirmed report by CNN-News18, top government sources claimed that there are nearly 200-300 casualties from the IAF strike. The attack took place in Balakot, a town in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan, is about 50 km (31 miles) from the Line of Control (LoC), which acts as a de facto border between the two countries. There are further reports that two JF-17 fighter jets of the Pakistani Air Force were shot down by India. These might just be rumours as Nupur J Sharma says in her tweet.

Meanwhile, a team of NIA has raided the house of separatist leaders Yasin Malik, Nayeem Khan and Zafar Bhat in Srinagar early morning. PM Modi has been briefed by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and further NSA has informed the Prime Minister about facts regarding the operation and its assessment, claimed CNN-News18.
IAF sources also stated that drones were also a part of the operation. A notable fact is that shelling across the Line of Control in Kashmir has frequently occurred over the last few years, while tensions between India and Pakistan have been simmering, but airspace violations are rare. Moreover, if the reports are confirmed, it will be the first time that Airforce entered the Pakistani territory and carried out the deadly attack.
Commending the valiant strike by the IAF, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that he is proud of the Indian Defense Forces. “We have told Pakistan that our martyrs’ sacrifices will not go waste. I am an Indian and I feel proud today. I am waiting for more information but I feel proud of what information I have got till now,” added Fadnavis.
Speaking of the consequences of the air-strike, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said, “Even if it was their territory, we have under the United Nation charter the right of self-defense. They have been attacking us & they say we want to give a thousand cuts to India, so our government did the right thing by giving them 1000 bombs”.
